Cruise Moab 2008 - start planning to attend

I am encouraging as many PMC members as possible begin planning to attend Cruise Moab in 2008. The dates are something like April 30 to May 4th of 2008.

you can make campground reservations for slickrock campground here...
http://www.slickrockcampground.com/

Expect registration to open (and fill quickly) in January.

Yep, lets have a large club presence and run those pristine Moab trails while we still can (between the cost of gas and the land use issues).

Pretty funny you say that as I was thinking the same thing. I wonder how much it would cost to transport 3 or 4 rigs on truck. Ron-How how many can you hold?

The plane flight is not bad. You fly to Salt LAke and then take Salmon Air to Moab.

Ron- Do you know of any of teh smaller transport guys that run around with dually Pick ups and haul cars for the dealers and insurance cos etc? That might be cheaper than a big rig. Just thinking about it.

What's the best idea for camping? Cabin? Tent?

I've done both. The cabins are mighty plane jane, and a tent works fine unless it rains all week.

We did the cabin our 1st time there, but did tent after that. Now we drag the camper up there.

you can also get a local hotel room, many folks do that. I like hanging out in Slickrock campground as that is where most of your TLCA buddies are.

My rig should finally be ready to go by the end of the month and would love to give it a shot. Never been there so I do not know much about it. Anyone have any pointers?

Remember, registration opens and closes fast the very first part of January.

You can always bail out later if plans change... but important to get registered!

Here is the link to the registration page and info... should be up and ready on January 1st.

Dion, This is what Romer suggested in the Moab thread:

If you have never been there are several favorite trails that always sell out

Elephant Hill - an long but fun day with a couple of good hikes through caves and some fun wheeling that a stocker could do.

Fin's and Things - A fun run over the rocks near Moab.

After that, there is Gold Bar Rim, Porcupine Rim, Steele Bender, Wipe-out hill, Metal masher, Spike and more

I signed up for Chicken corners, Fins and Elephant. Taking the FJ Cruiser, so no "hard core"

Dion... I'll be running outlaw runs all week except Pritchit on Thursday. Toys on the Rocks has an informal run to elephant hill on Tuesday.

I strongly suggest Hells Revenge for pure red rock wheeling with classic obstacles like Hells Gate.
the other awesome trail is the one with golden crack on it... I forget the name but more like CA wheeling as opposed to Moab stuff where you drive to an obstacle.

Any run is going to provide an excellent time. Dinner is Friday night, also makes for a short day.
Fins and things, Metal Masher and Steel bender are all classic beautiful runs show casing the Moab red rock and other natural wonders.

If you want TLCA atmosphere and to hang out with other TLCA members, get reservations for Slickrock campground.

Sweet!
