headed up to the Barney Riley Trail

A group of friends and my family are headed up to the Barney Riley Trail. We are headed out Thursday the 24th, and will be returning Sunday the 27th.

For those of you who have never heard of the Barney Riley, it is a Trail just south of Markleeville which is just south of Lake Tahoe. The Wheeling isn't too hard, and it is a long Trail just over 10 miles which takes you a good 4 hours. But the payoff is the gorgeous river, and the awesome natural hot tubs at camp. So if anybody is thinking of doing some camping posts up and let me know.

No bites. Well I'm sure that there'll be plenty of bites on the river Looks like I've got a pretty good group going, will be leaving bright and early Thursday morning. When I get back all posts up a Trail report with some pictures.

I went camping this last weekend to a very cool place just outside of Markleeville.

After a four-hour drive, we hit the Trail for another 2 1/2 hours. We camp next to the East Carson River. But that was not the only thing, at camp we had 2 natural hot springs hot tubs which really made the trip worth while.

and the fishing was awesome. Whoever went fishing caught a lot of trout. And most of the trout were at least 16 to 18 inches. Except for the granddaddy I caught.

This is a trip that we will take every year when the water level on the river is crossable, we've done it before in July we just have to add extra hour to our trail time because we need to go all the way around at the bottom to get to shallow water crossing. My friend Victor made it this year with a full-size Dodge truck, it took a little bit of brush scratches but that was all it's a pretty easy Trail just gets a little narrow sometimes. If you guys want, make plans for next year. All you need is some kind of four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Yes. From The bridge at Markleeville to the Nevada State line. We're going there next weekend!

Where's the good camping, on the other side of the river from the hot spring?
