Christmas Party Discussion

Being the November meeting is over and we probably won't have another before the Christmas Party I wanted to share my feelings on how it is funded. I am not sure how it started that the club pays for the party and people then kick in what ever they feel like, but I don't care much for that. First, I pay my dues and buy items that the club sells in order for the club to have money to donate to KEEP THE TRAILS OPEN and not subsidise some one who doesn't want to pay there fair share of the Christmas party tab. I feel the either each person gets a separate check and pays for it or the total tab gets divided by the number of people who attend and they pay that way. I know that during last year we did donate money for trails but in my mind not enough. If the club would have had more because of the way the party was funded we could have donated more for keeping trail open. After all our club is about 4 wheeling and where are we going to wheel if there are no trails open, I believe we all have enough money to pay for our Christmas party. If it's too late to change for this year I would like to make a motion we change the policy for next year. If you agree say it, if you disagree say it too. Bah Humbug!

You make an interesting point John. I think I agree with you.

But I'm wondering

Every year, somebody at the party mentions that there are certain people we don't see the rest of the year that seem to show up for the Christmas party. If they became potential no-shows, would that change your opinion at all?

Me personally, I'm with Kowboy on the parti-ci-pation thing, so if that's the only way to get those people to show up, fawk it, let 'em hang!

And, I think it's pretty sad when 20 plus people can read a thread, but no one will take the time to comment. You know why it took me this long.

During the last meeting when Dave brought up the Christmas Party discussion, I was surprised to find out that the Club pays for it.

I'd have no problem paying for my way and whoever I take. I think it's only fair.

I wouldn't mind paying my own way, I throw in $20-30 bucks in anyways so for me it never really mattered. The food is OK, just didn't like the parking there, sometimes having to deal with the valets is a pain. If we go to BJs again I'm fine with that or going somewhere else.
If we decide to go somewhere else, do we want to go to another place like BJs? If so where, Wood Ranch, Black Angus, etc... Or change it up and go to a Mexican restaurant, Benihanna type place, etc...
Also like Dave said at the meeting, is changing the location and adding maybe 15 mins more or so for some of us gonna keep someone from not showing up?

I would hope the once-a-yearers would come to see there friends and fellow 4wheelers and not a free meal but I get your point.

I'm with TenCup. I have to wonder, if someone isn't willing to pay for a meal, how much value will they add to our club?

So is this going to be at the usual spot or not?
