It's Alive!!!

We got the 60 running and on the road today! Couldn't have gotten it done without the help and expertise of Kief. Thank you oh great land cruiser master! All in all a very empowering experience for me as I'm a 1/2 mechanic at best.
Again THANK YOU Kief!!!

Yes its missing some emission parts. Interesting though I found a welded off part that in effect eliminated many of the components. So we think someone (original owner) only needed to pass a visual smog inspection. All in all very pleased with the pile of stuff in a box that came off and the rig runs pretty nice now. I have some tune up stuff to address to get it even more dialed in but feels great to be driving it again after a month being down.

Cool, keep us posted on mileage, highway should be the one that is the real indicator of how we did. I have 2 out of three of the parts we discussed, if you want to buy a new VCV that is up to you but I have one. I made the block off tube but don't have the little restrictor that goes in the circuit for the choke braker- I think our hick-fix is fine.. Your call.

I would love to make it to the next meeting especially because there wasn't another 60 present at the last one. I just went for a quick drive up Granite Hill Road and from a dead stop at the base to the top had a steady increase in speed while shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear and all the way to the top of the hill which was absolutely not possible before. I'm pleased so far. I'll check the mileage at the next fill up but I drive almost entirely in town so I don't expect any huge increase but we'll see.
Again thanks to Kief and HUD or I'm not sure where I'd be with the rig.

The 60 is running good still only getting about 10mpg in town but I didn't get it for the mileage. Pretty happy about the whole process knowing that there are fewer parts that will give me trouble in the future. Should do well for some time I think and then the diesel will be awesome when this motor gives it up for good.
Regards -

If you are running taller than stock tires then you are actually doing better than that.. I think I figured my 33's were needing a 1.1 to 1.2 multiplier as my odometer would say 10 miles and the mile markers were coming up at 11 or 12... I can't remember for sure.. so 11 to 12 mpg... woohoo!
