Pinion dust shield

Hey boys and girls. It is nice to be a part of your club.

Question though...

The pinion dust shield on my front diff is loose and I am putting some silicone in to tighten it up. Would it really matter if I use just regular silicone or should I use the high temp silicone. Does it really matter. Not much heat is generated at that point so I am curious if the regular stuff will work and stay put. Has anyone done this before?

the shield is normally a semi press fit. so whatever works.
if your diffs are solid spacer, why not just pull the flange and fix it right?

I posted this question on the regular mud board and that is what Degnol said to do as well. It is a solid spacer. Looks like that is the consensus. I guess I was just looking for an easier fix for this. Silicone is definetly quicker. Thanks gnob...
