I won't be part of the Saturday run (though I will probably do the Friday run). My plan is to set up at the sluice somewhere with my camera, cooler full of drinks, some shade/awning, snacks, the , and take lots of pics.

Somehow that sounds more enjoyable to me than sitting in a bunch of dust waiting for some guy to fix whatever he broke way up the trail.....

For the Friday run can I suggest just the back half, running either forwards or backwards? Running the whole trail is awful long for basically just one serious obstacle.

Of course there's the argument to be made that it allows for trail maintenance.....but wasn't that the point of the pre-run? I got all the nasty tree's out of the way.

Friday run will be the whole trail. Those that are paying to come will get the full experience. Thursday night will be pizza at Wild River. Friday morning leaving the O'Brien store at 9 AM, possible meet up in GP to caravan to store. We will run it in the whole way, I will lead and Travis will tail gun it. So far we have:

Garett
Travis
Gabe
Tyler
Brain "BB"
Kenny & Chrisie

Yes GP Wild River probably around 7 PM.

The TLCA site might have info on the inspection. Basically first aid kit, fire extinguisher, functioning vehicle and spare.

I know in 2007 there wasn't much of an inspection and a crack is far from broken. Now, spiderwebbed and obstructing your vision is another thing.

Good to meet you FNG If you can make it on Friday that would be Money, if not we'll see you Satruday then. It sounds like the Saturday run will be smaller than in past years anyway so not too bad either way.

Word, I look fwd to it!!! How does your FJ do on McGrew? I'm running 3in lift and 33 BFG AT's, I dont have sliders or a winch. Will I be OK?

ALSO, to anyone. I cant find a list of Mando items, What do you as a club require for a trail ride?

I think you're supposed to have a fire extinguisher, jack, a spare and make sure you tell Tony he is a really cool guy and laugh at his bad jokes.. there is a TLCA official run section that has all the info, a pic of the registration form.
I have seen mostly stock FJ's run the trail and even part of the harder trails. With careful driving you should be OK, there may still be some brush/sticks that can scratch paint. With a lift you should be in even better shape.

Welcome!

OH, Make sure you hose off every bit of mud or dirt off your rig, especially if you are out of the area or you will be turned back to town to hose off...

I put a link in post #8 for the "inspection" from the TLCA site.

Im running 2.5" lift +25mm up front on 33" with sliders..... my sliders were used , you'll be fine if you use the bypass unless itching for some new dents.

I would recomend sliders and a good skid plate if you run the two obstacles, but you can make it thru either way. I was bone stock my first year ( I did have factory sliders, that I still have) and made it thru even the first half of the final sluice. I have been very impressed with the FJ as it really is ready to wheel "out of the box". It's really nice to have another in the JSC If you want to get some sliders before the run I think I/we could build a set (maybe not as pretty as some) for around $100.00 probably less. And they are completely bolt on... A skid would be a little more in material, I may have even finally upgraded mine by then...or not...but if I do my old steel still works, it's just a bit dinged up

Kief- Can we get a file of the artwork? We have a sticker vendor willing to donate a stack of stickers with the run artwork. Would be nice to put in the swag bags.

OK, another Dumb FNG question (or two).....

Does evreyone airdown? I read the TLCA reqs and it said we have to. if so, to what PSI? I dont have a CO2 tank ( another thing on the list to buy.... EXPENSIVE ) I have a 7 gal air tank. Will I be OK?

CB.... I did notice that its not a requirement, I dont have one in the truck yet. Should I get one put together before the run or should I just go with the handheld CB that I have?

AND.... Any other tips/help is truly appreicated!

Also, If possible I would like to meet up on Thrs. for Pizza and beer's so I can meet as many people as possible before the run saturday. (I still dont know about friday)

If all you do is bypass, and don't want to run the obstacles, then you don't have to air down. You will, however, get better traction and ride more comfortably if you do so.

What PSI you runs depends on what tire you have, and your comfort level. Larger tires generally take less PSI (due to the volume of the tire). For a 33" you're looking in the 15-20 PSI range, generally. For a 35" I wouldn't run over 15-16 PSI (I run my General Grabber AT2's at 12 PSI, that may be too low but I haven't broken a bead yet).

How are you going to fill your 7 gal air tank?

Harbor Freight sells a portable battery charger and air compressor for around $50. The air compressor is slow, but it works (I've used it on the trail). It's better than nothing by a long shot.

Very good to have one. A handheld will be fine, but I recommend a full fledged one.

That's a huge problem with the FJ. No where to mount a CB.

This is a great run to start on. You can bypass anything you're not comfortable with, and it's only as hard as you make it. First time I went out I bypassed basically everything in my stock 80. Last time....I bypassed everything. (Though that was more due to having overheating issues than anything else.)

Don't worry too much about it. If you don't have something, chances are someone will (even a random bolt that fits your caliper! ). And if no one does, it's only a few hours round trip into GP.

Some. There's not a whole lot of good wheeling spots that I know of, but I haven't looked that hard for 'em yet.

There is some good places Up Anderson and Griffin. John's Peak isnt bad and lots of trails in the Applegate. I grew up WheelN Anderson, Griffin and Johns peak...

a lot of the trails are tight but Good Times!!!

I might have a new rig, however I'm NOT afraid of the trails!
