Check. Your move, Garret.
So I noticed that after putting on my lifts (body and suspension), and 35's, that Garret felt the need to upgrade his 33's to 35's. As if his J's weren't enough. ("Little truck" syndrome? )
Well, Tyler just helped me finish putting in my last 33 mm spring spacer (yeah, don't ask why it's my last and not all of them). I'm now sitting almost exactly 40" front and 41" rear, from ground to flare.
So what's next, G-double-tizzle (to borrow Travis' slang)? A body lift (* cough*copycat* cough*)? Upgrading your J's to Slee 4" or 6"? Something else?

Well since I "dialed" in my height and have my caster set at 2* I don't think I will be changing much. I get rub at full stuff and my only concern is when running chains. But I haven't been that aggressive with chains, it's usually just getting further up the road and not tackling some crazy obstacle. I toyed with idea of some spacers and talked to Rick "Land Tank" about it and decided I better leave well enough alone. Theoretically I could jump an inch with spacers and then re-correct caster with bushings. Right now I have Land Tanks plates and a DC drive line. My pinion is at 0*, so as long as spacers combined with bushings kept the pinion angle there and my caster within 2*-4* I could do it. We will see this weekend since it will be my first real test since upgrading to 35's. I stick by the statement I opened with, if I can run without changing anything than I am done. Or so I say

So what are you sitting at now for lift?
(And why do I keep hearing the phrase "famous last words" repeatedly in the back of my mind?)

Just J's which are supposed 3" but probably have settled to a 2 1/2" lift. I would have to measure from center of hubs to flare to take the tires out of the equation.

Pfft, tires are part of the lift! What's the point of running bigger tires if you ain't got more lift?

Measuring from the hub center will give you the actual lift height of the suspension, but if you want overall height then sure measure from the ground up. Since I don't have the numbers on hub center to flare pre-lift I can't really tell what my J lift has settled out to. Most of the time peeps want to know how much lift from a kit. If you want to compare rig to rig then ground for sure.

After running the McGrew today..... My lift is just dandy. No rubbing through the sluice and a very comfortable ride. Thanks for checking in.

I was jealous of your more supple J's when we were bombing in.
I was disappointed that I didn't run the sluice. I just wasn't comfortable trying it with an overheating truck, even going down hill. Seeing Tyler and Steve do it, I'm sure I could have run it perfect fine (and the entire thing). After Travis and I finish up my sliders (less than one month...but who's counting? ) I'll be even more comfortable running it.
