The 80 lost 1,000 lbs!

Well it looks like it anyway! I figured if Al was going to drive the 80 on McGrew he would probably rip off the rest of the flare Jarod started on. So I ripped them all off! Why the heck did Mr T put those things on anyway? Oh yes, 1993-4 big shoulder pads in womens shirts, muscle men and pickups with big ass flares and little tires. I sure don't miss that "fashion" stuff.

Now the truck looks fit and trim. Duplicolor where the flares were and on the beat up front corners.

Here is a picture of the born again Toyota:

Gotcha!

You will have to wait for McGrew to behold the beauty!

I kept waiting for the pic to load. :(

I like Duplicolor, it's what I used over (half) my rig on the flares and body cladding. I actually like the flares and cladding, it will flex where as the sheet metal will simply dent. On the 45 run I scraped up against a tree, if I hadn't had the body cladding I'd have a huge dent. Instead the cladding just flexed and got chewed up a bit.

But to each their own.

If I was flareless on the Rubicon I wouldn't have dented the rear quarter or at least not even close to what the flare did. But if I didn't have the front one rip off and serve as a buffer between rock and fender/door the pass side would look much worse than it does now. So on my toughest trail to date I have a thumbs up for flares and a thumbs down

As for looks: without them it looks more like a trail rig and does give a bit of clearance, similar to a built 4Runner. I personally do like the look with them and enjoy the mud they catch and keep off the sides of the rig. I had a 93 pickup with some 10" wheels on it when I was young and it through crap up the sides all the time.

Ok, so how much did you dis-assemble to get off the front passenger side? lol. Trying to do a little repair on mine, seems every bolts leads to another to remove.
