The get anything I want Story
So anyways , I get up this morning and started gettin some things done around the house. At about the 11:00 am, the wife comes to me asks that she wants to go the local nursery to get some plants for her garden. I'm thinking to myself do I really want spend my afternoon at a nursery, I think not. I tell her that I got plans to take the family on a little road trip exploring the forest and checking out some new fishing spots. Well she bites, and off we go in the cruiser. Now lets set up the upcoming events. (I had no plan to push the limits or anything like that, so needless to say I was not prepared) During our excursion we found some awesome looking country, and a great fishing creek with even better camping spots. I was trying to find a different way home, I some what know the area, so I was I knew the major geografical areas. Well I came into a flat and I knew exactly where I was, just 12 miles away from the highway. We started to encounter some snow drifts, nothing major just enough to have fun in. The way that I wanted to go, became blocked by major snow. I turned around (Remember not pushing my luck) I knew another way, so off we went. I came across another snow drift, and I could see the dirt on the other side, so I made the mistake of pushing my luck. I entered the drift with some speed. (too much Speed) It sucked me right in, and where she stopped is where we sat for the next 4hrs. I had nothing to help my situation, just my cell phone. (thank god)
I did not give up easy, I did my best. I jacked and placed rocks, I dug out with my hands, my feet, and sticks. 2hrs into the whole deal I decided it was time to make some phone calls. 1hr later I finally got ahold of somebody, and put them on the road to recovery. As usually just a little tug with a tow chain and out she came. I was almost to the point of sending the kids and wife home with the rescue help, just so I could get this out myself. I took my lumps from the help, and made the drive home. During that trip My wife said "I don't care what you get, or what it cost to prevent us from going thru that again, just make it happpen"
I think it was pretty sucessfull day,

But that really does say it all. You can have the chains, the winch, the lift, the tires, the air downs and the whatever else but none of those can replace the most helpful snow tool aka the shovel.
Let's just hope your wife doesn't read the board so you can justify one of the other things I mentioned!
This reminds me we do need to get a list of available JSC members or the S.A.R. Team set up for situations like this. Even if far away a member should be able to help with phone calls and maybe find a closer member willing to help as well.

i would personally rather have a multi mount winch over a shovel every day, well unless i had a dead battery on some particular day.
but, i am not a huge fan of shovel action either.
