Spring projects

So you are all invited for the following projects:

This Wednesday, after my court date, I'll be laying sod in the back yard.

Date to be determined but before we run McGrew, I need to replace my BIRF's. They are clicking pretty hard on accel in corners so it is time.

Before I go hard on McGrew again I will need to armor up a little bit. I haven't thought this one through so I am open to ideas, short of a full frame wrap ala Gabe.

Of course full meals and liquids will be provided including custom cut elk or beef on the grill. Yes kids are more than welcome!

PS. The court date is for the POS that was tresspassing and shot an elk on one of the orchard properties. He is going to burn!

Sweet! I need to do my birfs as well + would be fun to all get together seeing a lot of us didn't make it the last meeting.

Keep us posted on the dates. This wed. is out for me, especially if sod is going down lol.

I was just thinking the locals are kinda quite

Approximately what time?

This actually sounds like fun if it fits my schedule.

As soon as we sell the old jeep I will have some funds for the BIRF's. I'll actually be doing the front caliper rebuild at the same time. I'll pull the JSC portable headquarters, aka Al's old tent trailer, out of the back yard to make room for two rigs. Mid June will be the most likely time to do it.

This guy is as guilty as sin so the trial shouldn't be long. I am hoping to be done by noon. But if he has enough $$ to waste our time with BS witnesses it could be later. I figure a start time @ 2 pm should be safe, and cooler. Dinner will be when ever we are sick of laying sod. BTW, I'll have 2,000' + to lay.

The best bet will be for me to post up an all done post on this thread. I'll have my iphone so I can do it from the court. We'lll start an hour after I post. Dinner will be provided even if some of our members show up late. (they'll be cooking for us!) If you can show, even late, you'll be welcome. Just let me know Chicken, elk or beef and how many.

Travis and I are working on some weld-on/bolt on sliders for mine. Very cheap, very beefy, very easy to do (I think, I'll let you know when we're done ).

When I'm done with that you're welcome to look at what I've done and decide. Less than $100 is steel.

If I remember right I got the '95 front calipers, and the remans were only $95 a side. The '96-'97 is a different part number, but cdan couldn't tell me the difference between the two (other than $200 more a pop).

For that price it's almost not worth rebuilding them. Just throwing that out there.

Two birf jobs in one day is very ambitious.

what are you talking about, tyler is becoming a wrencher in training.

the birf thing isnt that ambitious unless you plan on repacking wheel bearing too.

you guys know that you can pull the whole knuckle without disassemble right?
at least it can be done one the mini, that speeds the birf replacement greatly, under an hour per side.

Gabe,

You are talking my $ on the pro. You guys are starting to do some interesting stuff. We'll have to talk about things.

I also thought about buying the rebuilt calipers. I have e rebuild kit and could do that work at my leasure. I could sell or sit on the spares.

Two BIRF's in a day is not that bad. With 4-6 guys working it would go quick, comparatively. Since we did mine last year I won't be doing all the repacking of the wheel bearings. Just pull them and refill on assembly. My main focus will be on replacing the BIRF's themselves.

Backyard looks nice, I drive by it daily. Kinda screws up my plans for some mud wrestling though.

He's gonna have enough of a chore keeping his kids & dogs from tearing it up.

Edit: Oh, and I assume you've seen the forecast for this weekend? You're going to have to water it what, every couple hours?

Kids and dogs are banned for 10 days. The system is set to water @ 6,10 and 2 for 5 minutes at a time. Hopefully that will keep it alive until we get back from SF. BTW, it is hotter than hell down here!
