I don't think it's that bad..if its running good for the most part then more than likely a good cleaning out and replacing bad soft parts/gaskets and the vacuum diaphragm, etc. You have to decide tho' if you want to throw $300 to $400 at it vs. tinkering with it yourself or with a little help. I need to redo my 84 '60's carb one of these days, I'm guessing a rebuild kit is gonna run about $100? Have you checked yet? Take pics and label the hoses with either color marks (paint markers or paint) or numbers that you buy in the little booklets or just tape with white tape/ masking tape and write on.. The cool part about the paint code or numbers is they are there later.
Don't even attempt this without the manual. I have one if you want to borrow it, you will just have to leave your favorite G Loomis flyrod as collateral.. Let me know if you want any help..
