Carb rebuild

Hey guys,
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel with the house remodel which means I can turn my attention to the 60 running like crap. I have a feeling from lots of reading on the forum that my main problem is smog related but I want to rebuild the carb or send it away to be rebuilt. Does anyone have any good ability to walk me through a carb rebuild or should I just send it to JimC? I have a slight desire to figure it out on my own but may just make a bigger mess of the situation.
Also what is the best way to label things before I remove the carb so it goes smooth putting it back together?

Your digitial camera will be your best friend. No help on carb rebuild here, sorry. If it were mine I would send it to Jim, I like tackling a lot of stuff but a carb I am still afraid of

I sold my carb and bought some EFI! I'd say Jim C. or Mark Algazy for the carb rebuild

I don't think it's that bad..if its running good for the most part then more than likely a good cleaning out and replacing bad soft parts/gaskets and the vacuum diaphragm, etc. You have to decide tho' if you want to throw $300 to $400 at it vs. tinkering with it yourself or with a little help. I need to redo my 84 '60's carb one of these days, I'm guessing a rebuild kit is gonna run about $100? Have you checked yet? Take pics and label the hoses with either color marks (paint markers or paint) or numbers that you buy in the little booklets or just tape with white tape/ masking tape and write on.. The cool part about the paint code or numbers is they are there later.
Don't even attempt this without the manual. I have one if you want to borrow it, you will just have to leave your favorite G Loomis flyrod as collateral.. Let me know if you want any help..

I think from SOR they're about $50 last time I checked. I'm trying to finish a bathroom remodel right now but if you're up for it I would be up for doing both of them together with a little guidance from you sometime in the near future. Let me know. Also what manual would you recommend? I have a few manuals from the PO but can't tell if they're good ones or not.

The rebuild is cheaper through a local parts house. I remember paying around $40 a few years ago. I just used the included exploded parts diagram.

I would suggest that you talk to JimC and order the parts from him, then do the rebuild yourself. I've used Jim 4 times now on stock to totally desmogged. He does a great job. Bob
