Hey, Jason and I were driving by on I-5 yesterday and he pointed out your place. If you get any complaints from your neighbors about full frontal nudity coming from the freeway I plead the 5th.

nice, what shocks did you use? stinkbug or level? caster bushings or plates?
I am getting metaltech spacers soon and need to get a set of L shocks I think, and a set of caster plates before I install the spacers.

LOL, Yes I know... cardinal sin..... I will take pic's tomorrow. Just finished up tonight and the sun was down.

LIFT: Ome med's 2.5" 851/860, N73/N74E.

Stinkbug is there for sure. Going to wait a little before tackling that.... just going to ride on this to let it settle down for a few before choosing which direction to correct. I love the "level" looking 80s.

Slee Blue Bushings & OME Steering Stablizer on order. So pretty much just springs and shocks at this point.

Im happy for the time being

You probably should have gotten your caster measured before buying caster correction bushings....

Ya, maybe I should have. Mainly purchased just on piecing together the full "slee Ome kit" and talking with them seemed like the right way.

The blues should be fine I really doubt that will over correct beyond spec.

care to weigh in on my CC dilemma? I'll be getting metaltech 1.5" spacers soon, I have mediums already. Related thought; no shocks yet but thinking L's with the front spacers and shock extenders out back (good shocks, just limited droop)

Spec being between 2* - 4* I think or is it 3* - 5* I don't remember off hand. When I installed J's I was -2* and OME bushings only got me back to 0*. So the blues would not have solved my problem. Assuming just the OME lift will put you at 0* a 3* blue correction is still not even at the high end of proper castor. Now adding spacers you might not get to factory spec with the blues and have to live with it or go with plates or something. Obviously as Gabe said it is best to measure your castor first once your lift is done and go from there.

You need to be careful with extenders because you change the range that the shock has.

If you have room (IE: the up travel isn't completely used) then you can use an extender. If you have the OME standard shocks, you do not have that room.

Withe the medium lift and 1.5" spacers L's should be about right for front and back. That puts you at about the same lift as what G's got with his armor.

But if you armor up, then that's going to basically cancel the 1.5" spacers (well, you probably won't lose the full 1.5", but you might lose .5" to 1" of it, depending on how heavily you armor up). So the L's might not work there.

The ideal is to measure how much up travel and down travel you have once you are setup. Then pick the shocks that are appropriate.

You can also get (or make) a post to eye conversion for the rear shocks. That gives you a lot more options for shocks, but you lose about .5" to 1" of up travel room, so your shock has to reflect that (for example the OME L shocks would not have enough up travel for your lift, and you'd be bashing the crap out of them because they'd stop your up travel, not the bump stop).

You can adjust bump stops (or get the axle bump stops, which is probably better) to compensate, but you may be limiting your flex.

It's a rather complex subject with lots of different options and lots of different pros and cons. There's also the fact that certain springs are designed with certain shocks, and by using different shocks you can get yourself into a bit of trouble....

On another note: I think the best way to address your castor (or is it caster? ) is the get the lift completed first. Run your lift for a bit and decide if that is where you want to be, or add spacers because you want it higher or whatever. Once you are happy and content (for at least a while) then address what you need to do for your castor because lifting the front even a little bit changes that castor more than you would think.

I'm leaning towards plates but will have to do the shocks and spacers at around the same time; all of this is bench racing till I hear back from JT at metaltech- he had a project go long and I'm assuming I'm getting pushed back to mid March for the bumper and sliders.
