For around 15 buck you can get a jar of silver permatex anti-seize and you won't regret using it.. use enough-not too much. It has an applicator brush that is real handy. I have had the same jar for 15 years.. scraping the bottom finally.

16" piece of EMT conduit on a 1/2" craftsman(or whatever) ratchet pounded flat enough to fit over the handle and then stops @ the full round, add a little duct tape over the end and you have a light but effective extension and your job is half as hard! Just don't whack yourself when they free up. If you don't have any laying around I'll hook you up- no charge.

LOL . Think I have a perfect piece of tubing/pipe to fit the bill actually. If not, K - I may take you up on the offer.

Im sure most of you have have done your lifts and is old news, but anyone wanting to join/watch/help is more than welcome, when the time comes.

Like Gabe and I were talking about, lifting will prolly not help when reaching in to replace a HG.. IF that is my case. We're going to run the compression test tomorrow and see what comes up. X fingers.

Are the torque specs the same as the FSM on the OME shocks. Did a basic search... but basically came up with tighten till spacer thingies squish (I know pretty technical lingo huh)

I would not use anti-seize on these. You don't want them coming off at speed.

Additionally anti-seize throws off the torque specs. They become "wet" torque specs rather than dry, and are different. It's way easier to break stuff as well as you can torque down a lot harder.

(IIRC from my research wet torque specs are somewhere around 50%-60% less than dry.)

Anti-seize is great on stuff you want to remove easily down the road, so there's plenty of things that it's good for (like the cone washers on the axle). Not so good for stuff you want to keep on the truck.

Torque specs are attached. It's for a '97, but it should be the same as yours.

I've got the right tool now!

(You need a pickle fork. Heat + crowbar won't work. Ask me how I know...)

You can never have too much of either

But seriously if you need a hand and y'all do this near Grants Pass I'd be happy to lend a hand. And anything you can get an impact wrench too will be made easier by air.

I would say I have bad memories of doing my lift in your garage, but truth be told I don't remember much at all!

when I did mine I found that pulling the shocks is the only real show slower, best 45 minutes I've spent on the truck so far.

I don't think it will matter much but just don't forget about it. It's an upgrade over the stock one for sure.

So PB Blastering it all week and still can't break nut loose on the shock. From the looks they are (shocks) after-market . Not 17mm nuts like most the articles I have read. They are x2 19mm nuts on top of the shock wrenched down on top of each other.

Picked up a blow torch today , if that dosen't help then parrifan wax and torch..... if that doesnt work pretty much just going to sawz-all the thing off lol.

Any ideas on this but job? Lol. No serial, Ive seen and used 2 nuts to really get a good secure.... not going to vibrate out nut bolt thing before.... but when it comes to un-doing?

Wrench to hold the bottom one, impact wrench on top.

It'll come off.

(I have an impact.)

Woohoo! One side done Gabe to the rescue with some grinding of tools, we managed to remove the freaking bolt. Got A shock and spring in . Naturally the wife's kept checking in on us.... "ok boys, can we go to dinner yet".

No impact needed either, just a breaker bar.

We got a system down too so the other spring/shock on the DS should be easy.

Ty took one. It looks purdy.

We ended up doing it the "dangerous" way. Ratchet strap FTW!
