Just my 2 cents about getting the best mileage. My wife's highlander gets 2-3 mpg less with just a yakima rack and mega warrior basket on top unloaded driving around town. I couldn't believe it at first but after multiple tanks of gas I was finally convinced. I would imagine with all the "extras" you've got on the rig there could a slight drain on the mpg.

The smartest thing I could do is stop tracking my mileage

I agree! Enjoy the fact that gas isn't THAT outrageous right now.

The timing will jump all over the place at idle with the gun if you do not jumper at the "diagnostic" box on the PS firewall. Once that is jumpered, you get a true reading of timing.

That said, I have mine advanced to about 8*...I'm at about 5500ft on a consistent driving basis and most of my wheeling is at elevations above that. I don't BS with this saving gas stuff with a 3 ton vehicle, on 35"s, metal/armor, gear, rack, etc. It's just not worth wasting your time and energy to save 1-2mpg when you could be out having fun.
