Hey there Mr. Toyota Trails...errr Mr. Knox

You must have some 'in' with Toyota Trails since I am now reading your exhaust question in the Tech Exchange area of the newest magazine.
Lets fix your dang exhaust next weekend after the meeting, I have all the tubing, you just need to buy a $25 muffler and lets be done with it. He's right about the air deflector not working, it would probably just force the exhaust into the back window even more. We need to fix your holes and make sure it dumps out the side of your 4runner. I made sure mine dumped out and cleared the side of my 55 because just like you I have that roll down rear window and I would like to keep all the brain cells I currently have.

I believe I have some 2" and 2 1/2" but I'd have to check. The 2" should be fine for yours. If you want a different size, I can pick it up before work. Last stick I bought was $25 for 10 ft I believe. Let me know what you want to do.

Done!! Just finished it up after the trip to the ponds. No more rattles, hissing, or thwacking. I'm sure he'll post some pics of my butt crack while I was welding. I must admit I have a nice crack!

Darkrealms I think we need to have our next work party on your rig. It's so close to wheelable I can taste it!

was that the stocker muff jerrod?

man, one of the, if not the first mod to an R series motor is some real exhaust. everybody knows that.

I'm pretty sure the exhaust was original... The rest of the underside is pristine compared to the exhaust.... I have a habit of letting my exhausts go to hell before dealing with them.... Hehehe We went to 2 inch from the cat back, and it feels like I got some torque back... Imagine that...

The fact that you were able to hold it together like that with bailing wire, and plumbing straps, makes you my hero in making things last.

It's been wired for pushing 2 years, and the straps for about a year... I guess it was time...

Thanks Josh!

While we were at it, we pulled off the plastic bumper sides and got it up as high as we could.... If I ever find that with a rock, it'll be from following Jesse somewhere........

Surprised you didn't loose torque and HP with the new pipes. It looked like you were runnin' pretty much no muffler at all before the welding

I've heard that if there's no pressure in the exhaust system it actually reduces torque and HP.

So while removing a muffler might make it more free flowing, you don't want it too free flowing or you'll start having the opposite effect. Which Jerod probably had due to the dozens of holes in his exhaust.

(Now that's just what I've been told, so if I'm wrong....well...deal with it!)

x2 from what I have heard as well, there is a certain amount of back pressure from the exhaust that helps.
