when (12/27)
where? (where you are if you have snow; I do)
why? (all the smart aleck answers go here)
how? (skinny pedal on the right, lockers if you got them, pick the toy of your choice)
go get it guys, I had enough getting up here to the Dalles yesterday, slot cars comes to mind from north of salem to Or city (99E to avoid a killer backup on 5), and packed snow and black ice on 84 from troutdale to here, fun stuff in a capable rig, lots of parts and derelicts in the road if not.

So thinking maybe Dutchman's Peak / Mt. Ashland area. I might have family tagging along who'd want to go cross country skiing.
Garett mentioned something about somewhere closer to GP though....

Still thinking about going local tomorrow. Walker (last meeting) is very close but is only 3000 feet at the very top, so depending on snow level I might have to head up Holcomb Peak (access via Spencer Creek past Hidden Valley High or Cedar Flats out of Williams) which is over 5000 feet at the top. Any interest on these spots post up and I will try to finalize my plans tonight and let you all know.

Family bailed, so looks like I'm on my own with the .
I think Holcomb Peak is where Travis and I went. That's with 5 corners, sled hill, and the road to Kief's house, right?
I'm totally down for that.

Yep that's the spot. If Kief is down too maybe we should plan on heading that way then. I will plan on leaving my house by 9 at the latest.
Who's down?

I say we hit up Spencer Creek. I got two sets of chains so it'll be a quite different experience than last time!

Would like to catch up with you if possible. So you are planning to go up to the gravel pile/ and then on the ridge to the 5 corner intersection( where the pond is) and then up to holcomb peak? I'm hitting the hay. Call me in the AM or post your itinerary here. Later, Kief.

Plan will be to head up Spencer creek to gravel piles (5 Corners: 1 down spencer, 2 4x4 down spencer, 3 up to Mungers, Sled Hill, 4 down to Powell Creek, 5 I haven't taken but it's left of the Powell Creek one) then up towards sled hill and onward if we can make it to the heli-pond (intersection of Spencer Creek and Cedar Flat that converge to head to Holcomb Peak or Deer Creek). I don't know if we make sled hill or not which is past the main Powell Creek intersection. All these points are marked on your GPS Kief .
Retro you are more than welcome to come out with us. I plan on leaving my house between 830 and 900. You guys can meet me at my place or we can meet at the Safeway on Williams Highway at 900. Kief I can try to contact you via cell from up there if you plan on coming up Powell or you can hit us up at Rays in Murphy. We will be running channel 27 for those of you with CB's.
I will check this post in the AM and probably later tonight.

I PMed my number to Retro, so he should have it.
Anyone else who wants to caravan, my plan is to leave Pilot in CP at 8 AM, which should give plenty of time to get to GP.

Well, we found some snow and then some.. Thanks G man for blazin' trail... we should have done that in the first place.. Kudos to Eric for plowin' with his Jeep. Good day of real snow and real wheelin'.. I think someone took pics. My guess was the snow was 30" plus..
Knoll.. If you want to sled I would advise coming up Upper Powell to avoid all the mess and it is getting wet and sloppy... and is going to get worse unless the snow level drops back down. Great sledding snow which means slippery driving. Page mountain might be wet...

Good fun and some serious snow wheeling. I should have passed the Jeep way earlier and saw we could do but oh well. A serious workout for my winch, battery and alternator. I have to complete my dual battery setup now and a hand throttle would have made a big difference in that much winching. That's an easy upgrade that I will be getting!
Nice meeting you Retro and Katie, cool peeps that are more than welcome in the club, in fact we would love to have ya! Your welcome on the chain borrowing, no problem it made it way more fun for all of us.
Gabe I would consider taking those chains back and getting a larger size, you can add a link or two but I still think you need another cross rung on the ladder because that gap is pretty big. Just saying....
Good day, twice as long as expected but we all returned safe and sound.

I'm really considering selling them on Craigslist, and upgrading to the quick connect chains.
Ladder chains suck.

I have to agree, you can not use those chains as they came out of the package, they have to take them back. If they give you grief have them install them in the parking lot to show you how easy it is to install them!
