Non-Member Help Needed Please
hey all. some of my mates in my local non-denominational 4x4 club(Lost Coast 4x4's)and I were planning to go Mcgrew this Saturday.
a member read something that we will need a permit and it kind of looks like it might even be closed.
any light to be shed on this?
thanks,

Hi Russ.
Where did they get that information?
Maybe I've missed something, but lots of us have been out there multiple times this summer, as recently as a month or so ago. No permits, no closed gates...

Russ- I have never needed a permit nor have I ever found the gate closed to Sourdough or the McGrew trail closed either. I have encountered "tank traps" on areas they want closed in the winter but these were roads usually not taken on the typical run.
Wish you would have let us know sooner I would have like to have ran some of it with you guys but we have a "birf party" this Saturday for one of our members.
Good luck and if you get into any trouble I am PMing you my cell number just in case.

the info on closure is on the Oregon Parks website with the permit stuff here.
I hear what you're saying but what do you think?
p.s.
Garett, it would've been cool to have some of you'all. We will be a very small group this time at best.
We're going to meet at the store at 9:30am Sat and take off at 10.
Thanks, R

Fire danger would close any unmaintained trails at certain times of the year. The fireroad down to Sourdough from the store is always open. I haven't ever heard of them closing the McGrew from fire danger but have heard them not wanting it run in winter due to mud and erosion. I think you guys will be fine.

I believe it is open until we hit the wet season. That's when they get worried about the plant-thing-a-jig thing spreading.

Call the #, ORV permits are for atv's. If its road legal I have never heard anything about an ORV tag being required, I know they do on the dunes. AFAIK the trail is a road.

Anyone not going to the birf party that would like to join us is more than welcome.
Meet at Obrien at 9:30/ leave at 10.
If need be, pm me for my cell #.
Have a great week boys

i'm not?
probably should be. seems a tab easier to hook up with JSC than PMC. I don't think the mileage is much different depending on where we were to meet up.
Monthly meeting are still tough.
I should...
I want to...
I will...

That was Keith(KK2). Financial?
He's leaving Weds. with several other club members to do the Rubicon. He's excited.
I'll check with him when he gets back. It sounds good to me though.
I'll have to come up with the entrance fee. Shouldn't be to tough.
What kind of run do you have planned?
Thanks for the invite. Funny, I didn't do jack early and mid summer, but now all kind of things are coming my way. Painting the house included. You know where that ranks on the 'to do' list.

Garett, how much did Keith give the JSC at McGrew?
It's some trails where you can get into as much trouble as you want, so says Garett.... Basically the plan is to go drive up a mountain, have a meeting/bag lunch thing, and head home... The idea is 10 am, meet in Grants pass at G's house.

Keith was our very first contributor to the JSC funds with $.30 donated around the campfire.
Oct. 25th is basically our second meeting but our first one where we will be discussing more involved things, I hope. The first in July was just to get off the ground. The trail run up and over Walker mountain is mild to moderate with bypasses available in the slightly technical spots. Short run for fun and just to get everyone out in their rigs while we meet. Hopefully we will put together a longer semi-formal run this fall. Everyone is welcome to attend, to meet us, to check out the club and decide if they want to join. You don't have to join to go but you won't get a sticker if you don't join while there
