Official Seal Text Poll
Jerod asked me to come up with some sample text and post them in a poll.
I've come up with six different fonts for your general viewing.
Please don't vote based on if they're "too curved" or "not big enough" or "slightly off placed". Some stuff nothing can be done about (for example some of the fonts do not have a bold version), but most of it can be adjusted as needed. So if you like a font but feel it's a bit too small, go ahead and vote for it anyway.
I've also taken the opportunity to display what I think should be the official "care bear" seal. Anyone who's truck breaks down should get one of these slapped on there.
(And since I drive a Lexus, it cannot--by definition--break down. It says so right in the owners manual, the one a mere Toyota owner can't read. )
And a bit of trivia here. Garamond at one point was one of the (many) "official" fonts of the US Government. Currently (or at least that I could find, as of 2004) Times New Roman is *THE* official font except for a select few exceptions. It replaced Courier (which I tried, but could not get to fit).
The first three (of six) fonts displayed in alphabetical order......
Top: Century
Middle: Cumberland
Bottom: Elephant

I'm winning I'm winning! Oh I'm the only vote...Can I suggest that only the first letters be capitol. It kinda bugs me when all words in something are capitolized. I can't spell worth a crap but still like things to look right...

I said the same in the other thread, but the general consensus (or at least the most vocal) was that capitalized = better.
There's only two reasons I like capitalized more.
1) It's easier to fit (from a graphic artist standpoint, not that I am one).
2) The original JSC seal was all caps (though it was a fugly font).
Just pick the font you want, and we can decide to capitalize or not to capitalize later. That will be the question.
And why do I suspect that you chose TNR because the Gov't said it was good? Clearly you've been brainwashed by your time in the military!

i do not think it should be all capital letters
all capitol lettering is not that easy to read
you younguns seem to forget there are people in this world that are a little bit
vision impaired
do some samples with capitols only on the first letter
and small for the rest

I took some time to fix (yes fix, both circles were way crooked and not only that not aligned ) the image, and here is the full flag with text included. I did have to adjust the font size a bit as the previous size would not fix with the different sized circle. I got it at close as I could to the original.
Here the circles are (nearly) perfectly aligned, (nearly) perfectly round, and the X's are (nearly) perfectly centered.
This is with the TNR font as it is the winner thus far.
Keif? Waiting for you to post your drawings so we can fill it.

Nope, I actually looked at all of them for quite a while before deciding. Thanks for the effort though

How about I do an upper/lower case of the winning font (or fonts if there is a tie)?
I would, but it seriously takes me like 15-30 minutes per font. Mainly because I'm being super anal about it and see a difference between a 34 pt with 75% arc and a 10% height adjustment vs a 35 pt with 78% arc and a 9% height adjustment.
People should still be able to tell which font they like the best anyway.

Well I thought about saying "and it looks like it! (took 10 min to do)" but I was going to be nice.
Besides, the top and bottom are *WAY* off. No where near close to each other. Looks quite silly, if you ask me.

just wanted to show the differences between the 2 fonts
and with the x's in the middle you can not have large readable lettering for "Jefferson State"
IMHO: the best looking
is with large lettering like the Arial font
but it will requires the x's to be offset not centered

Which is one of the difficulties in getting fonts to fit properly (and why some fonts just plumb will not work). And part of why it takes me 20-30 minutes for some fonts.

I voted IMPACT and Times, unfortunately I noticed IMPACT wouldn't win so Times was a second.
