Jeffersonstatecruisers.com

Ok, its a work in progress (forever) but heres what we have so far.
This is the recreated site as of this morning JEFFERSON STATE CRUISERS.
The old site (as of before this morning) is here.

I need thoughts and opinions. Remember some things may need to be voted on by the members.
The NEW color scheme was based off the Jefferson State flag colors.

Suggestions in works:
Gabe has suggested a FTP upload folder with member access to upload/download.
Brian (me) can setup @jeffersonstatecruisers.com email addresses with webclient here.

UPDATE 09/22/08

SEAL ACTUALLY ON THE WEBSITE!! ; p
Flyer updated with the Seal
4WDTOYOTAOWNER.COM sponsor link added (Per Garett).
I have a CD of the 45 run and will work on that.

Looks great!!!! My only complaint is on the photo thumbnail screen, I have to scroll sideways to see all of the pics.... Could be a setting on my comp.... But the rest looks super Brian!

The thumbs page is too wide for your monitor settings?
Sorry I use a 1280x1024 resolution. Would it be better to just have it two pictures wide?

Maybe 2 pictures wide.... I can see 2.5 of the pictures like they are... Can you downsize the thumbs to about 70%? I'm not a computer wiz, so if no one else has that problem, then it's not a huge deal...

400/1600=25% so I think the pictures are already smaller than 70%
So should I add more pages or just make the pages longer with them being two wide?
(note add 2ndGenToyotaFan to ignore list )

I don't mind changing it. I could also make the pictures smaller. There were just 150 of them so I figured it would be easier this way and people could just click on the ones they want enlarged/detailed.

Brian do you still want input on the web page? I've got some idea but don't want to put too much on you at once...
I was thinking that we could start a thread on web page suggestions, but I don't want to creat another club seal issue. I would be willing to help in any way that I can. Garett and I were hangin' out the other day and brain storming on several things, one of which turned up to be our web page. How dificult would it be to make our links on the right buttons? Would it be a huge challenge to add some pictures to our home page? Could you put in albums for each run with the sweet shots, and maybe then an "archive" file for all the other photo's? I've been looking at some of the other web pages out there and just picked up these as some ideas that didn't look to challenging that might make our page that much snazier. Another idea is to set up like Cascade Cruisers in having our forum on our own page. This would generate hits to our page, this will help with future advertizing banners and such, as well as increase interest in our club and page from other users to include Mudders that check out our thread.

Let me know what you think.

I'm all open for suggestions and input.

If you have an example of something you like from another site, link the sites location and tell me what it is. I'll let you know what it would take.

This thread is fine for suggestions and discussion about the website, I created it for that and for posting when something had been updated.

Buttons instead of text is easy. I will leave the graphics design to someone else. If we come up with buttons we want and someone wants to draw them I’ll put them up. We’ll just have to discuss HxW in pixels.

As soon as the Seal is decided I’ll have it in the upper left hand corner.

As far as albums and highlights go. I don’t want to be the one that makes all the decisions on what’s a highlight vs what goes in the “archives”. That’s the only reason I put all the pictures up the way I did. We can do a say top 20 pictures and have the rest available for download as well as the page format I setup for McGrew.

I think we decided that the forum would be better off staying on MUD because of the way most of the other sites forums are used that aren’t part of a larger Forum. I think we need to use the website in our signatures not the forum. I have the forum's link plastered on the site for that reason. If we use the site for everything but the forum I think we will get a lot of traffic. People like pictures, that will help with random search traffic.

ironpigdog has also offered to help and has some programs that may be useful, I need to talk to him more.

Additionally many of us use Picasa or other forms of online hosting. It'd be impossible for Brian to mimic the easy, functionality, etc that they can offer. While I certainly wouldn't mind uploading a few pics here and there to the site, I would not care to upload everything I have one at a time.

I think that the forums will most likely remain the best spot for linking to said videos and photo's, though we can certainly embed them on the JSC site (via YouTube, Picasa, etc).

I think the McGrew photo page is great... Maybe pick one good photo to make into a clickable Thumbnail to go to the page of photos for each event?

I'll change my sig right now...

As for pictures it would be nice then for us to maybe submit them all to you, but footnote a "highlight Real"?

And I was hoping that we could set up maybe like 10 or so shots that can be on the home page wihtout linking...

Garett what was that home page that we were looking at the other day?

Less and less people with dial up every day.

You could also argue that there are people with 640x480 resolutions (about the size of a postage stamp compared to what I normally use). 800x600 was the old standard, but anymore many people are designing sites for 1024x768.

As standards go up, those who don't (or can't) adopt at least the minimums get left behind. Sorry Kief.
