General event discussion

just today noticed the calendar feature up there between "member list", and "new posts."

not sure how it works, but looks like a good one.

what a dope.....

so the calendar is a IH8MUD shared thing I think, but no entries, so not many others see it either.

When I click the Calendar link it shows how many member have birthdays on each day. I can also see the blank events you created. DOH!

If you go back a couple of months it looks like a couple of clubs have used it for forum wide events.

talk about a widespread vision deficit. I'm pretty sure there ought to be at least something happening every weekend somewhere in MUD world, but it looks like the calendar function is not used very often/well.

maybe the JSC can start a trend, attract other people to join? I guess we'd have to be an actual club with maybe flyers, stickers, maybe a shirt or flag or two.....thinking out loud. when we got organized and start going on say monthly runs, we could post on the big page with something like "The JFC invites any and all toyota types in the Jefferson State area to X for X kind of run", post details on the calendar,

How many people from other clubs could come though?

Maybe one or two close clubs, but to the vast majority of them, it's rather useless.

Unless we can get a big run going like Rubicon...

I had the impression that this thread was going to be for us to simply post dates and basic descriptions of scheduled events. And any discussions of thos events would be done on another thread so that this one would remain concise (short and to the point).

How about Jerod locks this thread and splits out all other discussion/posts into a new thread? Then we can keep this one *VERY* short (one post) and not full of chat.

Woody set UC up with a calendar. It works well. Surprised more clubs haven't got one.

I just added an October meeting to the schedule. We had decided on quarterly, so we need to start a plannin'....

At this point, I don't have any oct plans, so who can make it when? Obviously we have Halloween in there to contend with.... Thoughts?

I'm out of town from 10/03 thru 10/12.

I will offer up my house for the meeting this time, Jerod you can always hop in with someone else from Ashland to cut your gas down. I would like to see if any of the westside NorCal people can make it up to GP.

We could always make the meeting a weekend day trip offroad somewhere as well.

But that would reveal my secret trolling identity with my real one @_0
I couldn't have that.
I am supposed to be putting together the members page on the website . . . I need to get to work on that stuff. Its just been crazy lately : (

What are thoughts on prospective members at meetings? I have two people that will probably join.

Oh and we should decide Dues so we can take care of that as well. (Cause I'm only a partially paid member right now )

Hey all, just eaves dropping as usual. Thought I'd give an outsiders thought on the people from other clubs thingy. Most of the clubs in the great northwest are far and few between. However, there are some of us that would travel to different locations at distance to have some good times wheeling. McGrew, where I met some of ya'll was great. Russ and I don't really have that much of a problem as long as there is a place to camp or whatever...
You guys also talked about haveing non toyota members in your club, just because of the demographic of vehicles. If there are runs that you guys have that are south of you and north of us, using your laison or word of mouth... could have a multi-club function.
We as Lost coast 4 x 4's have a sanctioned run the 3'rd week of every month. We have lots of area still open that is out 299 and not so far from you too.
Just throwing some thoughts out to you guys in the Jefferson state.
Anyway, soon as I get my suspension(springs that is) squared away I'm rare'n to go.......No worries, I'll pipe in just when you don't want me too

We are actually planning a McGrew run in sept.

Hooking up for some runs with you guys would be great, just do some cross posting on our calendar or event schedule and I'm sure you would get some takers to head down your way a bit.
