45 Run Aug 29-31
Is anyone else interested in making that? I'm going for sure. But at this point, it'll probably 100% be in the Honda. So if one other person wants to go, and doesn't mind hitching a ride/walking into camp possibly... the last 1-2 miles (Cause the Honda isn't getting that far down that road!) They are welcome, as is any gas money.... Or if we get more takers, and someone else wants to drive, we can do that too... and split gas $$. There is some fun wheeling down there for sure, and it gets as rough as you'd like it.

Depending how work goes, I would be interested. We could even go down in my Tacoma (Stock 4x4). But if I was to go, I would'nt be able to tell you untill the night of the 28th. But it sounds like a good time. Josh

It is a good time Josh, and depending on if anyone else jumps in, I have no problem on finding out on the 28th if you're a go or not. Also, the Taco would be fine for getting into camp, and depending on how you feel, we can see about heading deeper in... It gets rougher the further in you get. Hehe It's got a very McGrew feel, but with as little or as much wheeling as you'd like. Because everyone camps at the beginning of the trail, and then wheels and comes back...
But anyway... That sounds like a good enough plan for now.

It's at Deer Valley, about 20-25 miles S/SE of the the southern point of Lake Tahoe, so it's a bit of a haul... But it's cool!

What the....
First there's McGrew/Sourdough, and I'm going camping at Lake Selmac.
Now there's the 45 Run, and I'll be in Yosemite.
This whole "club" thing is just an excuse for you all to stalk me, isn't it?

Hmm.
This makes me think.
What day is the run itself? I might be able to bomb up for part of a day. I'll have to ask my dad, as we're technically celebrating his b-day, but he might be interested and we were looking for more stuff to do to fill up the week.....
(My mom asked him what he wanted to do in Yosemite, he said "hike." She asked him what else, since we're there a week. "Hike." "Yes, but what else?" ".......hike?")

Ok, I got the TENATIVE green light from wife, If between next monday and the weekend of the trip I make it home a couple of times (doubt it) I can go. We will have a little co-pilot as in my daughter unless you feel its not kid friendly. Anyways I'm a long shot for attending but it does'nt hurt to plan. Josh

Gabe, the main day is sat. And if you wanted to cruise up for part of the day, I think you'd have a good time, it's a beautiful place, not quite Yosemite, but nice... And if your dad likes cruisers... They will be a plenty.
Josh, it's pretty kid friendly. There will be a mobile wet bar, and some people will over do it sat night... (Hmm kind of like McGrew.... ) but that's not really my scene, I'd be happy to hang out with you and Rylie, Riley, Rye Lee... Hehehe Did I get close? Camp is also right on a nice sized stream, so she can play in that...

How far away is it from the ~2500 acre fire that's burning down there?
I know the edge is about 15 miles (as the crow flies) from where my parents vacation rental is down there. We may not be going if they can't contain the fire (only about 10% contained currently, which means basically it isn't).

Rules:
No sex in January = No babies in September.
No trail runs last weekend of August - September = no conflicts.
No Steve mid August - mid November (with rare exceptions)
I would say no guiding in September but I need baby sitting $ for hunting.
Doesn't anyone else hunt?

Do we need to amend the bylaws regarding the firearms requirement?

Ok, Just relized last night lying in bed thinking if I was going to be able to pull this off, that I already have a work commintment (Damn) My Incident Mgt. Team is up on rotation that week and I have to have a 30 min get away time if activatied. So unless it rains and they close fire season I'm for sure out. Damn those plans changed fast.

Bummer Josh, It's worth some vacation time (IE next year...) especially if you like 45's. It's very McGrewish. I'm sure fire season will close by then..... maybe....

So the Mrs and I are driving up towards Portland today, and I mention the 45 run. She asked when and were, and when I told her it was close to Yosemite when we were going to be there anyway, she immediately replied: "Well we have to go then."
HAVE to?
So thanks to Travis, Jerod, and the 's for helping to corrupt her at the BBQ.
Oh and looks like I'm getting some new shoes before then too. I think I'm going with the 35's from TireRack. She likes the idea of her truck looking tougher with my 31's, and wants to know why she can't have the 35's.
So.....belly armor (we got a deadline now Travis!), 1" body lift, and 35's.....it'll be like driving a whole different truck than the last McGrew run.

LoL, I know what I want they just cost too much. Plus normal "guns" (weapons) aren't as fun after M60's, SAWs, 50cal's, M203's : ) etc

Yeah, but I'm no longer stock.
Someone on the 80's forums is running 35's with no rubbing in daily driving (except when turning sharply to the left).
I know that stock (as per Slee) you can run 33's without rubbing, though some folks have reported with more extreme crawling to be able to get them to rub.
My thought is that 33's to 35's is only an inch taller (into the wheel well) and I should have that inch from my body lift....
So theoretically I can wheel with them with only minor rubbing. Garrett suggested (and it's a good idea) to add 1" spacers to the springs (relatively cheap) to eliminate even that chance of rubbing (and improve articulation).
We'll soon find out.

Well thats 2" of lift from the wheels to the body. I'm just letting you know that it will be tight. I have seen 60's running stock with 35's. Its just tight and yours is a fairly nice rig and it would be a pitty to see a fender crunched cause the tires gave less than a fender : (

We're still going, but looks like my folks are bailing early so it provides us the perfect excuse to go wheeling.
We'll be heading in either Fri or Sat, and coming back Mon. And as for the ride I was more referring to the last section as you mentioned that your ricer....er...Honda isn't going to make it.
BTW where do I sign up for the run?
