Blinkers

Hey, just found this site, looks great. I have an old broken down HJ47 with blinker issues. Basically the blinkers work if the hazard switch is pulled out. It has a new flasher unit that works. I have pulled the blinker switch out from behind the steering wheel. It looks OK but a test lamp reveals there is no power to the common blinker terminal at the switch. So should there be power at the switch and where does it feed from. I am starting to suspect that my problems may be from the hazard switch. Is this possible.

Cheers and sorry if this is not what this forum is about.
