bald mtn oct 25th

doing my 3rd anual boy scout run october 25th

the boy scouts will be camping at my cabin the 24th (friday) and we will be wheeling baldi sat late am (9am). there are 12 scouts and they are supposed to hike up and back the baldi mtn. when they get tired we heckle the scouts and if they faint we throw them in the trucks to boost their moral and then kick them back out once they gain conciousness. great fun. on the first anual event i flopped my 80 with 5 scouts in it. Parents were a little upset but the scouts had a great time.

Rigs so far going:
my 80
a locked tacoma on 35's
an unlocked tacoma on 33's
a built tj
Dans uper duper 40
perhaps my ezgo galf cart

we meet at my cabin at 815 or at the baldi entrance at 9am.
any takers?

AS long as Mark gets that fan to me and I get some work done this weekend, I am good to go.

Dustin, I have been working in the garage till midnight the last few days and can't keep up the hours to try to get it done before Saturday. I could probably finish Friday night, but I still need to test drive it and I am sure I am going to have to make adjustments. I don't want to find out something is way off or wrong halfway up 168 with Connor in the rig. It isn't in the cards for me this weekend plus that other stuff we talked about is still brewing so not the best for getting up there.

Well, after talking to Dustin and busting my butt until 4 am, I got everything sort of back together and a trailer to get up to shaver. I would not be going without the trailer so big thanks to Mr. Raber (Dustin’s Dad) for the trailer loan.

A few items had to be temp fixes (coat hanger holding end of my exhaust pipe, brake lines not attached to the frame . . . a longer line will be in Saturday) but for now, hopefully without the hard lines bolted to the frame, I can get enough flex out of them. I also have duct tape holding my front axle brake hard lines to the axle. Need to make axle attachment points for them. I also moved my rear axle back and did not make new mounts for the shocks on the cross member. Hopefully they are not at too much of an angle and bind up, but I will not have time to weld up new mounts. I also noticed my shackles in front are not vertical between the frame and the springs looking from the front. (They have a good 45* angle from the side, but the front is wider at the bottom then the top. I will need to cut off my old frame mounts and move them out towards the tires about .75”. I will have to fix these before surf and turf.

The only thing I need to adjust before I leave is my tie rod and drag link so my steering is straight.

I may go up to the cabin tonight if I can finish up a few things and drive it a bit around the neighborhood. If not, I will see you guys at the cabin at 8:30 Saturday morning.

Sounds like you have been busting your hump. I don't know how you stay awake at work.

as far as your shackles go, you want them to look like this \ when looking at the vehicle from the driver side. That way, you will get good droop and not be lifting tires as often. Post some pics when you get time.

Yeah I have that, but I had to outbord my spring perches (frame mounts) for the 60 axle. they were fine when SUA, but because of the special type of mounting plate on the pumpkin for SOA , I had to move the axle perches out 3/4". So the springs are 3/4" wide on the axle compared to the the shackles on the frame.

If you were looking straight on my rig from the front, my shackles have a bit of this / \. SO I need to move my shackle frame mouts out 3/4" each so from the front they are parellel.

My side angle is spot on /.

Great Day! It can also be considered an official run since 3 club members were there.

Post up pics from the day James. I think Tommy had some pictures too. Your rig is turning out really nicely.

I have two weeks before SnT to get a few more things done since I had a few things literaly held together with duct tape or bailing wire to make it Saturday.

It felt like I was driving a different 40 this trip. With SOA in front and almost 100" wheel base, I was very stable and the suspension flexed really well. I didn't feel like my back was being hit with a sledgehammer all day this time.

Edit: Slickrock, Father to Slickpebble

Hudy, you said before that you have a Photobucket account. You ought to read this thread: http://forum.ih8mud.com/ih8mud-com-h...ity-token.html

It's pretty easy to post pics from Photobucket onto MUD, if you have them uploaded, send me the link to your album and I'll post them for you.

TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting is really easy too. It even gives you a link for forums to paste. If you can't send them, can you burn me a CD?
