Worked on the axle some more. Gor the 60's complete, cut out the old axle and made measurements. Plasma cutters make fast work. Tonight I hope to get the perches cut off and tacked into place so I can mockup the axle to make sure it is centered.

I some how blew out the distributor bolt, spraying oil all over my engine bay going down the 5 and making a nice puddle in front of my apartment complex. Got some lock nuts on my front shackles so they won't work loose anymore. Shortened my power steering return line as it was starving the pump by kinking and blocking the flow. I also lost another exhaust stud, I'm going to try to heli-coil the 2 at the back of the head over spring break. I also finally bolted down my shifter boot so no more exhaust fumes

Getting anxious for calico

Hey 87, can you give me any info on that cool rear bumper? I'm looking for something similar for my 07 Taco, w/a swing out tire carrier. And I like the way your high lift jack is set up, was that a feature of the swing out, or did you rig it up yourself?

thanks, the next time I can make a meeting, I'd like to see how you set up the pivot point, and how it handles the weight.

finished my 60 series axle install. Still need to do a better test drive for brakes and adjust the rod between the steering box and knuckle to make it shorter so I can balance my turn ratio and adjust the stops.

I changed the gear oil in my tranny and T-case. T-case oil was pretty clear, but tranny was dark and had some shavings on the drain plug. I figured as much since the 1st gear isn't synchronized and grinding happens.

What a GIANT mess it was filling the cases. I have a skid plate on and I tried to do it with i in place. What a mistake. I must have spilled 2 cups worth of gear oil onto the skid. I kept popping off the rubber hose on the 2 qt oil containers and then I couldn't really see when the t-case was fill so I kept pouring oil that was sneaking out of the hole and all of a sudden, it looked like a faucet turned on and every drain hole/access hole on the skid was flowing with oil. It was so bad, I had to use throttle cleaner to clean up my garage floor. I also forgot to open the garage up and almost passed out from being high from the fumes. Good times.
