Tires... Round 2

So I think I'm going to go for new tires the the cruiser. Plan is to buy 5... and possibly 5 new rims to go with it.

I have a 2.5 inch suspension lift and currently I'm running stock tires on stock rims. I'd like to see about getting something that is decent on/off road ... and looks good. I was thinking something about a 33 or a 34. I would like to stay skinny as I am powersteering-less. The only 34's I've found are 34x9.5 but are bias ply... I've been warned I won't enjoy these on the road.

So here's the questions:

Recommended tire brands/size. I've heard that 255/85/16 is a decent size for landcruisers... perhaps you have other ideas.

Recommended places to buy them? Does anyone know someone who owns a tireshop... or sell tires?

Tires I've looked at:
BFG Mud/AT/KM2 33x10.5r15
Goodyear 33x12.5r15, 33x11.5r15

Let me know what your opinions are...

BFG work but are noisey on road and prown to weak side walls. KM2 are big money and for the cost of the goodyears I would go with toyo open country MT, several different widths to pick from too at that size 33. Try procomps too. A good place for tires is Tire Exchange in cobble hill, good prices.

I had mtrs on my 45 . Don't think they had kevlar tho. too bad I could've used the extra horsepower....

But I liked them, pretty quiet on the road, don't ask me about wheeling tho, I haven't wheeled since 1985.

Not sure about tread life on those mtr's tho. I've heard different things. Lots of guys around here had the 37mtr's at one point, some dude did a big group buy of them many moons ago, they all seemed to get burned off in a couple years.

I've had bfg mud 255/85/16's on my truck for YEARS. seriously, it's retarded, every year I think I'll have to buy tires, but they just aren't wearing.

Actually had them on a couple trucks before the 70. Absolute shyte in the snow, ( at low speeds anyways, being skinny, they're way better in highway slush than my old 33/12.5's were no hydroplaning anymore.. )

but for a dd, can't complain.

think it was about 6 years ago that I bought them USED.

we have run M55's on the FJ62 for quite a while, they wheel alright and are good in snow, rain ect...also skinny...really like them, toyos seem to have treated us pretty good in the past...

Well the wondering about tires is over.... found a set of 32x11.5 for 500 bucks installed... 2 are new and 2 are 80% or so. So well worth being about half the price. Here's a picture:

Theres more pictures of it if you follow the link in my signature...
