I have a jackall and a tug strap... I also have an old saturn s-series we can use in case the boat needs to fall on something...

yeah polymer...that shits soft, buddy used to have one...I fell on it a few times...( we drank a lot back then...)

boat weighs about #1300 or therabouts. keels about #700 . So all told, it'll need about #2-2500 capacity.

Trouble is it's so damn tall, so jacks and such get a tad sketchy. and the stands it's on don't have much adjustment so I can't use them.

I know I took some pics of it, but can't find em right now, tho that could just be me...did most of an all nighter sailing a boat down to vic last night....brain needs sleep.

But yeah, if there's access to a cheap hiab that can handle that out there, I'm into it.

but right now it's time for a nap...

So I'm up island the plan is to put my reserve tank in and run on that until I can find an acceptable main tank.

Just one problem: the reserve does not have a return line.

How do I hook it up?

Any ideas would be great!

The lines it has:
main line that used to go to the engine. The big 2 inch line that goes to the filler. and the little line that also goes to the filler.

Can I just put a y connector on the little one attached to the filler neck or something?

So my buddy suggested splicing the return into the feed line with a T connector. is there any reason I can't do this?

alright so a bit of research and all I can seem to find is a couple of comments about it being next to impossible to bleed but couldn't I just put a valve out or disconnect the hose for bleeding?

Any comments?

ah...no, no return line. i thought it was just a temp kinda fix. all i have (going off of memory here) is a soft line running through the floor to the fuel pump. i thought you were just going to be bringen it back down island again and getting the old tank re-coated...

well the cruiser is back in victoria in its new role as my daily driver.

The aftermarket tank will not fit under the aqualu tub... at least not as far as I can tell there appears to be a cross brace too far back on the bottom of the tub compared with stock. I will post pictures in the next couple of days.

Well I still haven't got around to taking a picture of under the body but I did get the soft top fixed and the tail gate held shut properly... instead of with tie-down straps...

damn still givin out free beer? Must be costing more than the truck by now...

btw, I rented a budget truck with hiab and had a wee little boat lowering ,keel chiselling while boat dangles above head in a sketchy manner gong show over the weekend.

you'd think, that when something that weighs 700 pounds has the bolts holding it removed, it would just drop off.....

so I'm changing the oil in the transmission, transfer case and diff's ....

Here's the question:

How much oil is the transmission supposed to have in it? When I opened the fill plug on flat level ground I was supprised when a liter or so of gear oil came out the filler in addition to the oil that later came out of the drain plug.

It was my understanding that you simply fill the transmission up to the filler hole and not further. Is this correct?

did you drain the tcase first, and was there much in it?

sometimes they'll pump their oil into the tranny, and you get an overfull tranny. running a hose between the filler plugs works to keep things level.

I was too cheap to buy the kit, so I drilled and tapped a couple fill plugs for npt many moons ago, one of those temporary fixes that kinda got permanent...

ya... I just chatted with ken about it and he suggested the same thing. I suppose I'll have to do the same thing... the transfer case was not empty... probubly a L or 1.5L in it... but it sounds like this is whats happening.

Also it would appear that whoever last did the oils did everything except the front diff as it was probubly twice as hard to get open... and twice as dirty

well I got a fuel tank... stock it's in great shape thanks to adam for the lead on that one. I also picked up a toyota service manual, and a bra top....

the guy sold his cruiser and has tones of spare parts around lots of tranny's/transfer cases and other good stuff too... he's got an ad up on used vic.
