I should be around for the next few days if you need some welding, fab, or other work done.

Ah well as of today I have doors that hold themselves shut so at least when I look over my sholder I won't see the blue and red through a door tied shut.

I've had a really gassy smell around the cruiser lately... and I'm wondering if it might be because of the charcoal canister being unhooked.

Anyway I picked up some more hose and such to hook it up but I'm wondering... Do I need to have that little one way valve and if so does anyone know a part number... lordco doesn't seam capable of finding them.

well its official... the gassy smell is from a fuel leak.

Does anyone have any experiance patching fuel tanks or know the procedure?

also its a pinhole leak.. would just taking the tank out and doing the POR fuel tank treatment fill the little hole or is more required?

I pulled the tank...drained it and a buddy of mine is going to fiberglass the bottom half of it... hopefuly that way it'll never leak again...

You better clean it off really good and treat any rust otherwise it won't last very long...

Townside auto does fuel tank repairs, you should give them a try. They will weld or solder it up properly. We used them all the time, no complaints.

Use Muriatic acid to take care of the rust, you can buy it at a hardware store. Cleans up rusted hardware nicely too. For Por 15 you need to use the paint also. I would even just give it a shot soldering if you are somewhat handy with a torch. I shouldn't have to but i'll say it anyway, clear the tank of all fumes by filling it with water a few times before applying any heat please!

for all the time, energy and cost of patching it with no guarantee that it wont leak again in 2 weeks i would do as dslcruzr suggests and take it to townside and do it right.

turned out good... still have my eyebrows... went the fiberglass route... since I am not working for another month...
Drove to courtenay no problems... cruiser is parked for the summer while I'm out in ontario... unless I win the lottery or something and can afford to spend 2 grand on shipping... plan for now is to put it in tires... and perhaps some other stuff on the cruiser come september.

Does anyone have an under seat fuel tank in good shape?

you could prolly borrow the one out of my blue truck for the trip down...but im not interested in parting with it...so long as u got it back up to my parents place. lemme know and i can give them a heads up if you want to pick it up to borrow. they will still need the tank to move my truck around the yard so....can only be a short term type deal...

noooooo prince of darkness here...

first thing I did was use a torch to hack out anything mechanical ,second thing was tear out every inch of wire ...

then I made a pile at the end of the driveway of all the excess crap, ie, everything other than body panels and doors, where it all disappeared in a puff of logic.

I may be dumb, but I ain't THAT dumb...

at present, it's actually 98% functional, and being usefull as a yard tractor, until I can get around to building an exhaust for it.

Just picked up an exhaust flaring tool at P/A to make that a bit easier, tho it bears an unsettling resemblance to the 'pear of anguish' (dont google that)

but christ knows when I'll get around building it...

building a porch, and figgering out how to get a keel off a sailboat and lower it onto the ground so I can get it out of my driveway, without hiring an expensive crane truck...

(hit space bar before adding smiley to craigslist link....)

shit son, for 500 bucks I could just remove a couple stands and give it a swift kick...cept I kinda want to keep the boat...

may just give up and hire a hiab truck for a couple hours. probably easiest in the end.

my dad's buddy has one... what kind of weight does your boat have? ... I can see if he's driving by and wants a case of beer once I get back... if he hasn't broken the truck again!
