I am incredibly sad to inform all the avid IH8MUD readers that today, at approximately 7:30pm (PST), I lost my 200$ pair of Rayban sunglasses. They died a peaceful death, at the bottom of the Beatton River, north of Fort St. John.
Charla and I climbed over sharp rocks, waded through murky water and handled slimy, stinky mud, all in a vain attempt to recover the polarized, UV protected eyewear. Prado was even of some assistance, vigourously attacking large rocks that might have been concealing the elusive item.
Alas, no luck. I am heartbroken, but there is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. I have owned the Raybans for over a year, which I think by anyone's standards, is a long time to own a pair of sunglasses without losing them. I think I just about got my money's worth. Also, I purchased a pair of Bolle sunglasses at the same time as the Raybans, and these have fortunately survived months of grueling field work! As well, my dear friend Charla, who was very helpful with the search, and very sympathetic when we finally gave up the search, informed me later that she hadn't really liked the Raybans on me (nice to know Charla, you were there when I bought them

), and that she actually prefered the Bolle's.
So, although I will not be replacing my Raybans in the near future, I still have my Bolle's, which I am sure will serve me as faithfully as my Raybans did.
As a side note, the Rayban's fell from my shirt into only about 6 inches of water, away from the main river current

. So if anyone reading this happens to venture down to the Beatton (just north of FSJ, off the Cecil Lake Road), could you please look for my sunglasses. They may just be sitting on shore........Thanks.
