What I did May Long
Hey All,
Well, wheeling season is back on! Got my truck back on the road, started right up after sitting since October, did a quick tune up, and went wheeling. We decided to stay close cause a few of the locals (which I am one of now, I guess) were in the same situation as me. Our local trail mud creek, is hell when wet, but was pretty easy this weekend. Going in I had to winch once, and a stock toyota had to be pushed over a log pile. The tough steep hill was pretty easy, but Adam in his Jeep TJ on 35s managed to rip his exhaust off on the steep step up( Rob the other Jeep in the group already had to leave cause he broke down the day before). We got to camp with no other troubles, then after seting up tents, we decided to go for a quick night (well its not really night, cause it is pretty bright pretty late). Adam then broke his jeep for real by snaping his axle and crushing a few spider gears. Kim drove home to get an extra shaft, while the rest continued to explore. Got back and they found out about the spiders, so Adam went home to get more parts so he could drive home the next day. So then we drank it up around the fire, a couple of drunks walked up the trail and drank with us for a bit till they had to find their way back to their car down the dark trail with no flashlights.
Morning came, and we wheeled for a long time (10 hours) tonnes of winching when we tried a new trail. Thick muskeg. The final hole, where I was up ahead, I ploughed through only a quarter of it, so after winching 3 times, and 4 other trucks got stuck(only Kim was left on solid ground, he started pulling people back. I had to get back since we gave up on this insane trail, so I figured I would get some speed, put'er in 3rd low and revved the hell out of'er. bogged down half way through, so I shifted down to 2nd and got 3/4s through, then first and only had a few meters to get out, but I was stuck, so I winched out quickly. Damn I should have had'er in 4th with some more speed, and I might have made'r. Oh well next time I guess. After that we were so dead, we didn't feel like seting up camp at stuart lake, so we decided to head home. I didn't get very many pictures, and pretty much near the end of the day said to my copilot Chris that I don't have any pics, so while it was a little dark, he managed to snap a few of my truck. Some more pictures are on the Peace country 4x4 club page, which is sort of hard to get to and you have to sign up plus I was the only cruiser so here are a few pics I got.
Cheers and sorry for the quick blurr, nows that I got a real job, I have to do a quick write up over lunch and go back to doing my work.
