What are you up here for, and for how long?
Cheers,

The first time I drove up, I couldn't believe the scale of the Peace River valley at Taylor flats. I'm hoping "work" takes me back up this summer so I can tool around on the weekends, maybe do more exploring around Tumbler Ridge.

I hear you. I moved up here with the intentions of leaving as soon as humanly possible. Four years later I'm still here and still can't escape.

I've driven to and from FSJ and Red Deer/Edmonton/Calgary in the 73 and the 42 so many times that I can't stand the drive anymore....at least the part in AB.

If you're around, we should meet up with you for a beer or something.

Me too. Spare room is reserved for you so you better come up so we can go exploring.

That's the plan. Not sure if it will happen in the summer or fall, but I want to put in a month at the core lab in Calgary, and a month at the core lab in Ft. St. John before next year's snow flies. When depends on what else I get up to this summer. Looks like I'll get to spend a week or two in a field camp in Willmore Wilderness Area, might get to go to Buenos Aires to log core , we've got a new student starting a field project in the San Rafael Swell in Utah that might need some guidance, maybe a week of coastal geology in Oregon and I'm hoping to get some paid fieldwork and take a trip to California.

It's a hard knock life in grad. school

Am I gloating?

Sounds good. CA in November, right??

Ah... the life of a grad student. I remember it well............... Mind you I hated the country I was in and couldn't wait for it to end.

We'll see about S'nT. I sort of have a partial truck in Cali with my name on it. If I can get my ducks lined up, I would like to get it this summer rather than haul it back through the salt. Plus I don't know that it would still be waiting that long....... We'll see how things play out, but I am hoping I might be able to piggy-back part of such a trip on expense-paid fieldwork travels..(so far I've managed to get my bullbar, lift springs and winch this way)

If I have the money and time in Nov, I would LOVE to convoy down there.

Yah, grad school isn't all giggles. The pay sucks ass! You were in Siberia, right? I'm just on a high right now cause I am coming to the end of a marathon mapping project. I should be sending an excel file with ~40 columns and ~6000 rows to a computer wizz geo. consultant who will turn it all into maps I can build up from. There are about 35 reams worth of 11-17 paper sitting on the floor of my living room while I do "quality control" on the data the undergrad monkeys entered for me

Really a nice place in the summer time, plus the drive up in the summer is great.
