It's not the bolts, it's the where do I put the cab in my tiny shop, how will I get around the stearing issue, and then I might as well totally strip the frame and get it dipped and all that, too much time and money if I go that route. I want to keep it simple and still do a good job. It's still going to be a work truck, not a show truck. Plus even getting the tub off, I'm having a hard enough time finding a few guys to come and help take my roof rack off my cruiser, let alone spend half a day trying to move that big thing around.

I got the rack off already thanks, but as for welding, come by anytime, just that it's sort of friggen cold right now, so if you need to do a lot, we could pull the mine truck out for a bit, or see if we could do it at Dodge. I am going into Dodge on Friday to do a bit of work on the 42.

More cleaning this weekend, bit of a pain, cause that stupid tar stuff got soaked with hydraulic fluid, which then made some of it really soft and made it a mess to clean up, now I don't know if I should remove the rest (which is still hard and will be tough to remove, or just clean as best as possible and just paint it up good) Anyway, floor is pretty good, there is a patch that got rusted through on the pass. side due to a good smack that dented the rocker panel up into the floor. all looks pretty easy to fix, especially since I will be putting in new rocker panels.
Cheers,
Deny

I just removed as much lose stuff and mush as I could - then POR-15'd it - solid as a rock now and sealed as well.
Looks good!
I'll be selling mine in the spring/summer, gonna build another one.

Thanks Louis,
wish you were selling yours before I started on this, cause it's definately a lot of work, and I think I'll be lucky to get it done before next summer.
Cheers,
Deny

It'll come together pretty quick for you - you will see. When you have that big pile of new parts ready to put on - that's when it is enjoyable - oh, and after it is painted is nice too. I found that when the rockers were replaced it really started looking great.
Hang in there - it is worth it!

Any progress lately? It's been almost two months since the last update on your project.

Yup it's been a while since I've done anything, too much drinking, but hockey is done now and I have put myself on a 3beer max diet so that I can actually get some stuff done on the weekends. I did start grinding up a little to start on the panhard bar frame mount, nothing exciting to take pictures of though.

I *believe* you are talking about the sound-deadening material he removed with an air chisel, might be worth a try.

Well, got to get my butt in gear, my dad is killing me. I think I got some more motivation now to go and do a little more on my truck.

Very cool, I am thinking about putting airbags on my rear - are they permanently attached to the top and bottome - or do they act like bump stops when there is no load? I don't want to lose my articulation.
Ask your dad if he is interested in an intercooler for his truck - I am going to change mine out for a glycol/air intercooler this fall.

His is a 3B, will that fit? I am pretty sure he said they are not attached on one side, but next time I talk with him I will ask, will also see what kind they are and where he got them.

Should fit no problem, would have to modify the pipe from the turbo a little to make it fit - pretty easy.
Cool thanks.

I touched my truck finally!. Pulled the engine and cleaned up a little in the shop so I could walk around it a little.

Are you kidding, I don't got money to burn! Plus, I am all about the smaller the diesel engine the better. I think V8 diesel is over kill.
I will be getting back to this project after Pismo though, so stay tuned

Finally did got a little time to work on this last weekend, but work exploded in my face again, so might be after christmas before I get back at it. Anyway cut down a tree to do some axle stands, red neck style, took off more crap off the frame to get ready for sand blasting, and bought one of those stove top fans which keeps the stove side of the shop more tolerable, and the far side a lot less cold.

Final two, got the body up off the frame, still need to get some buddies over to get the body totally off and then the frame can be draged out.
Cheers,
Deny

did some more last weekend, cleaned rest of frame of bolts and rusty crap I won't need. jacked up body some more to get 4x4 posts resting on frame. Now all I have to do is take the suspension apart, drop the frame and I can pull it out for sand blasting. I might wait till spring to get it sandblasted though, cause I can just see the sand blasting place spraying it with primer in -30.

I don't know probably not in this town, would have to take it down south somewhere.
No Problem.
Oh and also thought I would post up this little beauty that I got for the truck over Christmas, thanks Greg and Sheldon:
http://forum.ih8mud.com/diesel-jdm-p...55f-combo.html
Now the entire drive train is all old school, as in pre-2000 when cruisers went to the different axles and tranny. Still don't know what I will do with the old drive train, either sell it, keep the engine like spare/parts, or put the engine into a future project.
Cheers,
Deny

What's the state of the old drivetrain? I thought it was 1HZ-H55F as well, wasn't it? Just tired?

1HZ - 1Rsomething tranny. No not really tired, just needs some work, like a major cleaning, painting, checking over, and BEB since I am going to turbo. That said, I don't really know much else, would have had to do possibly the injectors, clean up the pump....who knows, I don't really have much time for that now adays, and I wanted the H55F, and the GandS combo had pretty much everything that I wanted and ready to bolt up the turbo. will save me a bunch of time. If I do decide to sell, will give the buyer a bargain, since all that work still needs to be put in, but even if I do sell, probably won't be till spring, when I have some time again(hopefully!)
Cheers

If you decide to sell, let me know and I'll give it some thought.... One trail/winter beater and one clean summer truck would be a sweet combo.
