Swamp Donkey wheelin'

Ya'll,
just posting a few pictures from a little wheeling Charla and I did last weekend, after a night of rain. very slick, and although the locker helped, it was just too slick, almost no traction when trying to climb anything. Hopefully will dry out a bit for this weekend.
Cheers,
Deny

you need to lose the puttputt diesel in that kind of goop..get some V8 tread cleaning tire spinning going!

I had no problems putputing in the ruts and goop, just on the areas that were packed down no matter how fast I spun the tires (the treads were clean) it just kept spinning and seemed to turn into more of an ice surface than anything else. I think the best thing would have been wider tires, front locker, and aired down.
Cheers,
Deny

Don't think a V8 would help. I had my all gripping rubber boots on and I could barely stand without sliding down the hill.

I love how my swampers work in the mud but I think after 5 years with the same set of tires I'm in need of some new ones.

Well maybe...maybe. But it is much more satistying to listen to the engine roar and watch the mud fly as you dig deeper/go nowhere. Thats my V8 reasoning anyways, I'm still 19 at heart.

I agree,
Most times when I get stuck in the mud, a V8 would help (either get me more stuck, or unstuck), but this case was all about traction.

The 13BT is pretty good at spinning the 35x12.5x15 SSRs. However, I did notice that now that they're worn out they aren't nearly as good as climbing out of ruts like they used to.

If you're 19, then I'm about 8 at heart.

I get to work. Actually, I should really take Orange with me. We're heading up to Buckinghorse to do an assessment. Ray and I were there on Monday and the access road in is a winter access road....which means we had to quad in 35kms and out 35kms (about 15km done in the pouring down rain). Anyway, it'd be a fun place for the Cruisers but not too challenging I suppose. So, lucky me will be quadding over 75km on Saturday and 75km on Sunday. Let's see if I can walk on Monday.

Real good. I haven't taken it out too much, but initial thoughts are: Thank F#$%@! goodness the U-bolts are gone. I used to go on this trail, and if I didn't get some speed through some of the ruts, I would get hung up on my u-bolts (same tires). Now I can idle through all that (course the locker helps to just idle). Not too much tippier on the trail than my old 3-4in springs, but I will make it better with some wider tires and offset rims in the near future. The body roll is really noticable on the street though, so I really have to slow down for turns. I am glad I waited to do the spring over till I did a lot of wheeling though, cause starting off with this much lift would have scared the S#$% out of me in my early wheeling days. I'll see how it wheels this year, but so far I am 100% happy.
Cheers,
Deny
