| Chilko/ Taseko Lakes - July 25 - August 9, 2009 (No Chat) Chilko/Taseko Lakes and area trip:
July 25th - August 9th.
Departure:
July 25th, Scalp (Bill), Garry T., Glenn-BJ74 (Glenn) will be meeting at Ricky's in Chilliwack around 12:00 and heading out from there.
SquamSquatch (Garry) will be departing from Squamish and heading North and meeting up with us in Clinton later in the afternoon.
Flycruiser (Robert C.), Sopel (Robert M.), and I, Fantom (Mat R.) will be departing earlier in the morning (9-10 - we'll see) and meeting up with Garry in Clinton. Robert and Sopel are currently a very high maybe but one or the other might not make it.
BJ_FJC (Drew) will be joining us half way through the trip around the 31st.
Darmaduke (Scott) is also going to be joining us for the later 1/2 of the trip.
Archeology_student (Shane) is planning to attend the whole trip but I am not sure when he is departing.
Prado t (Aaron) will be attending the entire trip but not sure when he is departing.
Toynut was also interested but I am not sure when.
Trip:
Those departing on the 25th are heading via highways to Williams Lake, then going on Hwy 20 West. Depending on the time of day and how we are doing there is a chance that an overnight stop will happen at McIntyre Lake Rec Site. McIntyre Lake Rec Site is about 40 km west of Williams Lake just north of Hwy 20.
If not then we will be continuing on to the turn off for Taseko and aiming for a spot at Fish Lake or around there.
The last civilized fuel spot is Lee’s Corner (Hanceville), after that there is a place to obtain fuel by Chilko Lake but it is bare-bones up there.
Either way on the 26th we are going to head to Upper Taseko Lake, there is a camp spot on the South East end with a very nice beach. This is going to be our base camp, from there for the next 4-6 days we will be doing day trips to explore surrounding areas.
After our stay there we will likely head a bit North to Explore Chilko, then I would like to start heading East for the return trip through Gang Ranch areas and into the Canyon.
You will be able to monitor our progress on my Spot page: http://share.findmespot.com/shared/f...GYgsB2eXt5q1mR
Both Garry and Drew have Ham radios and will be in contact as well.
for questions I can be reached at 604.803.3506 or fantomdesigns@shaw.ca
please keep the "chit-chat" out of this thread.
Those who are going and I've missed, please post up, those who I don't have departure times for please let me know, or any other questions.
Be prepared for any type of situation on this trip as we do not know what condition the trails are in, and since we are going into higher elevation be prepared for any kind of weather as well.

| The Findmespot site comes out as an error 404.
Those 3 dots in the address probably indicate something was omitted.

| McIntyre Lake Rec Site It would be tough to get to Fish Lake in 1 day and make sure everyone got there.
I suggested we meet at McIntyre Lake Rec Site, because to get to Fish Lake would add another 2 to 3 hours to the time to get to Williams Lake (possible last minute food supplies?) and another 40 km to the McIntyre Lake Rec Site would make for a very long day of driving-then to set up camp.

| I asked Phil to start this thread because the other one was a bit too crowded. So, The "Polish team"will be leaving Saturday at about 9:00 which will put us in Williams Lake at around 17:00 with the occasional coffee/bathrooom/stretch stops. From there to McIntyre is a short trip but we could make it to Fish Lake in one day.
Do you think that you guys might be up for leaving earlier? Spot share page!!! this is how you find us!!! Click here.
try that.

| steam bath on the trail Sopel and I talked about building a sweat lodge. This is basically a tarp covered steam room made from a lean-to. We will need a few large tarps, some strong twine or bailing wire and we can find some long saplings to make the frame. Heavy plastic is ideal (6-8 mil), but tarps are cheaper and more plentiful. If anyone has a big roll of strong twine/wire please bring it a long and maybe a few extra tarps. I am sure someone has a 5-gallon bucket and a dipper or a mug will do. We will need an all day fire to heat rocks - which should not be porous like sandstone (we don't want them to explode).
Thanks

| Almost forgot, Mike McT is also coming but I am not sure when he is departing.
Scott (darmaduke) will be joining us at Upper Taseko camp (which on the map is the Southern Lake) around Monday and still waiting to hear about Shane when he is going to come out. Aaron - departure time? Toynut - are you coming? when?

| Sorry to hear about that Aaron, so we are down to 11 trucks. I will have a chainsaw with me but would prefer not to be the only one.
