Canadien cruisers going to the us?

Does anyone have any experience exporting a fj80 diesel,right hand drive and originally imported from japan, to the united states? I want to import one from bc to california and i am wondering how !

It has to be 25 years old otherwise it needs to go through extensive and expensive testing for EPA and safety. Check out the diesel section's sticky in Tech.

you canadian? or americano? i wonder how long you can keep a canadian plated vehicle in the states if your canadian, and lets say you were down for "work"....? or vice versa? i know it works both ways with people living near borders. i heard of someone who had a michigan plated vehicle here for a long time, owned/plated/insured legitimately by an american but they just happen to be working in canada...for an extended period i guess....

i stopped to talk to what i thought were american tourists with a washington registered 60 one day in richmond , turned out they were canadians with dual citizenship and found it cheaper to register the 60 south of the border

If their residence is in Canada, it will get a lot more expensive if they have an accident.

yeah, insurance seems to be waay cheaper in the states...i know with motorcycles it's like night and day difference...

I had a vehicle in the US for one year with Ontario plates. I had to have it inspected in Hawaii (about 30 sec and $14.) and then was given a temp permit for as long as my Ont registration was good. Mind you, it was a Silverado so it met USMVSS. I have been considering taking my HDJ81 to Hawaii but wondered if it would pass inspection.
