We'd like to meet and wheel with you all!
Editor Darby Darrow will be in British Columbia throughout July and we'd love to have him get together with some of you and perhaps go wheeling, shoot some photos, and do a piece on BC 4x4 action. Darby owns a 1973 FJ40 although he will not have it with him as he is with his wife and kids; he hails from San Diego.
An overnight or simply a day trip out somewhere would be great, please email me or PM me if you think this can work. Or, simply post up here. Thank you! perfect timing...cruiser days is in july. maybe you can get a nice even write up of it?
im sure there will be a day trip following. im planning on being there...otherwise, im up for a day trip or overnighter...as long as its not canada day weekend as i'll be at whipsaw...or july 12/13th as i'll be in nelson for wifey's reunion...midweek can work too! im sure someone (not me) can plan something that he and his family can enjoy. how old are the kids? i usually bring mine, as long as there are other yoots coming along as well... |

We will be in the area from mid July to mid August, but already have some commitments in Washington. The majority of the time will be spent in Vancouver, Deep Cove, Coquitlam and Alouette Lake area. I will keep an eye on this thread and see what we can figure out. We are looking forward to hooking up with you. __________________ 1973 FJ 40 4x4 Labs High Steer/Power Steering/Front Disc Brakes/SOA/Redline Tube Doors |

There are many places that are not too far from Vancouver that offer some good trails, what dates are you available for, how much time would you have for the trip? Is there anything specific you wanted to see, a certain area perhaps? We can arrange a trip almost any time and I am sure that there would be several members interested to join the trip. I would be more then willing to take a couple days off work for this.

Other than that we don't have any definite plans. We would be up for a day trip or an over nighter. We have no areas in particular that we need to see, but scenic would be good, in fact Dave insists on scenic! But then again you guys have no shortage of scenic! If you guys have some possible dates let's post them here and I will confirm once we leave So Cal in case there are any changes. Looking forward to meeting you guys! __________________ 1973 FJ 40 4x4 Labs High Steer/Power Steering/Front Disc Brakes/SOA/Redline Tube Doors |

Cheam would be a scenic day trip. Add some snow and you get some adventure to boot. I'd be up for it. I will have most of the summer off except for the long "to do" list for the house.

I should have the 40 running by then. Always up for camping or a day trip.
The club does a run on BC day long weekend (August 4 this year), usually the Whipsaw trail. __________________ Martin S '66 FJ40, '71 FJ40, '74 FJ40, '84 BJ60.... |

My wife and I really enjoyed the overnight trip after Cruiser Days 07. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think we ended up over Margaret Pass.

I remember that trip, and so do many others, it was a good run, and would be worth doing again. Maybe this time we could crash for the night at Sunrise Lake, and if we go on a regular weekend the chances of having people up there might be smaller. I am also curious to find out how those washouts we went through are looking now after the winter.

I'm not sure where, but that route is closed due to the landslide that happened up there.

That's just plain mean. Maybe we can get in touch with some of our Squamish friends and do a trip in their neighbourhood. Still close enough and we don't go into that area nearly enough.

Day trip or overnighter is all good! How does it look for either 7/26, 7/27, 8/2 or 8/3? Those are weekends but since we will be on holiday, weekdays work for us, just thinking that somebody is probably working Monday through Friday!

Aug 2 & 3 are the August long weekend. We will be heading to the Wipsaw Trail that weekend. Are you interested in going? It is a 4 hour drive from Vancouver to base-camp at Lodestone Lake, going through Princeton and Coalmont. Quite a few of the club members will be there.

We got a bit sidetracked with this weekend's trip and what was going on. If you are interested in Whipsaw it is a nice trip, there are 2 ways into it and it's easy enough to get out of there in case you have to leave earlier. If that does not work we can do some more local stuff like East Harrison trails.

In any event we will need something that is accessible by a non trail rated rental car, or need to bum a ride with someone. How far is Whipsaw from Vancouver?

4 to 4.5 hrs to lodestone lake. It is at the east end of the trail. It is only 20 min of gravel with a few minor rough spots to the lake. This is the back way. Some of us go to the lake, basecamp, and wheel from there.

Just make sure you get the full insurance on the rental.
