Read your for sale thread. Time to trade in the wife.

BTW, who did your AC gas drain, recharge and what did they charge?

Cool It air conditioning service on Riverside in Abbotsford. $295 plus tax for everything...was cheap as far as I've found.

Ouch! Thanks anyways for the info. Still have cool AC - not ice cold - but that is a lot $ for what is involved. If it ever gets hot, I may look into the Wal Mart kit and have someone purge the Freon 12 out of it. Wish I had all of my dad's old refrigeration tools and equiptment.

The steelies are American Racing 767 series...your buddy definitely needs a 70 series instead of a jeep, just as capable, way better looking, and three times the fuel economy

I like it , Do you mind If I ask where you purchased it?. I know your woman wants an 80 from what you mentioned. Last year for your machine 18,000 grand would be a low ball figure (cable lockers) and great shape. I personally would like to see these vehicles hold their value for insurance purposes . What other vehicle of this size and OFF-ROAD capable with 25mpg can you get. Ya sure it is RHD but with fuel prices its worth alot more than 13,800 especially now with the air-cond fixed.

I have been trying to talk my buddy into one for the past year, I keep sending him the link to this once every couple of days. Maybe I'll finally convince him, in the mean time, good luck. Which area has rust? and how much?

Thanx guys, there's not really any real rust areas, just a little discoloration here and there or a random tiny bubble. Hard to explain, but it's in great shape overall, and you could eat off the interior...literally spotless. I purchased it in Parksville.

It is probably a bad time to be selling anything right now. For most of us down south a BJ74 is a toy. For people in the north it is a workhorse. You might consider advertising where you get some northern exposure.

Canucksafari is correct, The market here is different. I wouldn't sell it for 13800 when I know its worth close to 20,000 try NWT or the YUKON . Its too bad your women dont like it. For Carolyn and Skylar (her 7 year old) he's mine too ,our BJ74 is a chosen lifestyle. LOL Those two adopted the 74 and I came with it. LOL, It is a hard time to sell anything . For now just keep it advertised and keep it from rusting and maybe a few months things will turn around again. Enjoy the 74 while you can. X2 on northern exposure.

i'm tryin to figure out why for most in southern BC these LC's, or maybe more the 70's (let alone 60's and 40's) are considered "toys"...? as opposed to a good daily driver first, then weekend trekker 2nd?? their good on mileage, reliable, fun to drive, i don't get it... well i can understand the older 40's maybe...but why is that?

flex, man, if we were closer, and i wasn't married (wife needing to drive auto), i'd consider a trade for my 81 plus cash with your rig! but if I had the money, then . . . it'd be a TOY! lol!

if its worth anything, i've told a few people about this truck and emailed them this thread.....I think its a great deal....I paid $13500 for my BJ-71......with 92k on it this time last year. I saw a few 74's when I was looking and all of them were asking more than you.....and ALL of them had over 120km on them.

Give it some time, this truck will sell......and you'll kick yourself for it afterwards because they aren't easy to find.

good luck with the sale

Still no serious interest...on a sad note I'm now trying to convince her that an 80 is what we want and a PAJERO is not! She loves them things...Geezuz, things are getting worse

This is a difficult time to sell a SUV. People are freaked out about fuel costs. The Explorers and Expeditions are dead in the water: nobody will touch them. However, the BJ74 is a special vehicle and sometimes it takes time to find the right person. The lockers make it rare and unique. Be patient and you will eventually sell it. Beware of bottom feeders.

Don't worry Flex,
Just keep up the advertising. I bet if any guy on this forum was in need of a BJ74, it would sell instantly. Just not the right time, but if I had some cash lying around I'd buy it in a heart beat, nice looking truck.
good luck,
Deny

Any item is only "worth" what someone else will pay for it. People who have delusions about the value of whatever they are trying to sell will learn this, eventually.

Value is 99% of the time governed by the purchaser not the seller, you're right on Martin. I'm a home appraiser and value is always different depending on who you talk to.

Flex, nice looking truck, have you advertised it across the country, that might sell out east at that price more easily than local.
