hey cruisers,
i found this '83 60 with 36k original miles on it for $3500..just found it, havent seen it yet, but spoke to owner and he said the interior is imaculate, no body rust at all and pretty much mint except for some frame rust in the rear.. he said the frames were made from recycled steel that year. i obviously need to go investigate in person, but i am wondering what this truck would be worth, and what sort of things to look for or ask about...ive been wanting a fj40 my whole life, but still have lotsa love for the 60's..all input appriciated!

sounds like you will need to take it to a frame shop and have it checked out. If o.k., sounds like a great deal. I would seriously look this thing over with some mechanics, frameguys, etc. first.

It has, obviously, spect a lot of time sitting, if the mileage is correct, which would be starnge, to say the least. 25-years old, with 36,000 miles? 1,500 miles a year? These aren't normally thought of as collector cars. If it was sitting indoors, great, if not, watch out, because water will collect in the lower panels, and rot them out. Vehicles are designed to move, and by moving, will tend to keep drains, etc., more or less open and free, so they'll let the water out. When they sit for long periods of time, they plug up. And, the rubber dry-rots. But whatever, look at it closely, and keep us posted. Preferably with pics.
