tcb--sweet Redline. Nice ride.

I plan to change my Kona over to 1x8 as soon as my back allows me to. I run the On One as either SS or 1x8, depending on season and fitness...

Thanks man. I've only had it a few days now, but have been able to get a couple of rides on it. The 1x8 has been more than sufficient for the local terrain.

I commuted to work on my 29er today for shits and giggles.... made it in about 25 minutes. 6.1 miles. Didn't push too hard because I don't have a shower at the office. I'll be pedaling all out on my way home today to see how long it takes me to get there.. I'm thinking it'll be similar in time to my commute by auto.

My backpack probably weighed 20 lbs today with bike tools, lunch box, suit, shirt, tie, dress shoes, belt, etc... It definitely increased the wind resistance to a point that I could feel it.

I might make this a weekly or twice a week thing. It was pretty fun. I could have left my house 30 minutes later and still been the first one in the offfice, but I wanted to take my time and try not to sweat.

You could drive in Monday with all you need for T, W, Th, then pick it all up on Friday.

I've got no where to hang clothes. I'm incredibly skeptical of left overs that are aged more than 24 hrs... And, I am ever suspicious of the janitorial staffs.

They have a gym here that is $25 a month taht has showers and lockers and what not. But, I have a gym I lift at for free and building mgmt was unwilling to cut me a special rate "showers only" membership.

I can't think of a more efficient way to do it.

1990 vintageTrek 520 road tourer. No pics at the moment. It's carried me across the country, most of the length of the US pacific coast and a few places in between

Sadly, kids, career, and a very large remodeling project have taken their toll on my time. Someday I'll be back in the saddle again. For now a cannondale Mt. tandem + trail-a-bike keeps me busy!

I've been riding this to work the last few months. I think it's a 1972. I took off the derailleurs and shifters and have been riding it as a single speed.

I have Biopace on my Cannondale ST500. I need to replace them as they are about worn out.

I like the idea, but you should replace that fork before it breaks and you get a taste of blacktop. :shudder:

Tuesday went so well, that I rode my bike to work again today. I probably should have checked the weather channel before doing it... it looks like we're going to be getting Hurricane Ike feeder bands this affternoon. The wind is already whipping around. Gonna be an interesting ride home.

All in all, I do like riding to work. I can take non traditional routes and aviod a lot of traffic, stay within eyesight of the beach and enjoy the breeze and the scenary, and when I get home from work, my excercise for the day is done. I wish I'd have done this sooner. I imagine I'll quit for the winter when the time changes. I think the darkness will drastically increase the odds of me becoming a hood ornament.

Week 3 of commuting 2 days a week by bike. Thinking of bumping it up to 3 days a week, but I want to have some legs left for hitting the trails on the weekends.

I've already started prepping for the time change. I used an old reflector and some other junk parts to fab up a handle bar mount for my LED flashlight. I ordered a blinky rear LED yesterday. The is going to stitch some reflective material on my backpack this weekend. I'm addicted to commuting.

But riding the trails is still my one true love. I also ordered a new front tire. A WTB Weirwolf 2.55. Should be a lot more cush than the Nanoraptor 2.1 that I'm currently running. Hopefully, it doesn't slow me down on the streets too much. It's supposed to be a fast roller.

I'm seriously thinking about having another wheelset built for some around town commuter tires until I can afford to make the Redline a full time commuter.

find a set of rims on craig's and mount slicks on them. Your new off road tires will last a lot longer.

Craigslist down here sucks... especially if you ride a 29er. I'll have to have them built or order of the interwebs.

My new off road wheelset will be in next thursday, so I put some street slicks on the 29er yesterday. So now I have a designated commuter wheelset!

Much quicker than pedaling the knobbies.

I sold my car yesterday, so I am on the bike until I find an 80 or suitable vehicle to buy....

You could probably ride a Redline Triple X comfortably then. I'm 6' 0" 175 lbs. and ride that GT with the seat post cut comfortably.

So yeah, the Triple X would probably work for you. I have a Double X that's a friggin' tank and huge to me.

I really wanted to get this before my GT but it's a little too expensive.

What, are the tassels the seller for you?

No, but it is a 23 lb aluminum framed racing bike that will probably crank at about 35 mph, if not more.

used to ride an S&M Sabbath bmx bike back in highschool. At 6'1" 160lbs, it just isn't all that fun. Mountain bikes are just easier to ride around on, I don't do much trick riding anymore so no reason for the little bike.
