That seat position doesn't look especially comfortable...

The recumbents I've ridden have been extremely comfortable, so much moreso than my upright bikes were. Have ridden for dozens of miles at a time on recumbents with no aches or pains anywhere.

You cannot stand up and pedal on a recumbent so you must downshift gears instead. That's not much of a problem here where the land is fairly flat.

Being low to the ground (and thus invisible) to motorists in urban cycling has always been a deterring factor for me.
There are a few different types of recumbent bikes. The 'bents I've owned are not much lower than uprights and certainly don't lack for visibility.

Have fun.

No pics, but I ride a 2008 Diamondback sorrento--don't laugh, it was only 70 bucks at a pawn shop. All stock for now--I'll upgrade the components as I break things. I already broke the pedals and bent the chainring on a big log.

For commuting I use a trek 700 multitrak. It is old, but it gets down the road pretty good. I smoked my buddy and his road bike on a 26 miler yesterday.

The diamondback replaced my old Mongoose Iboc from the mid 90s. (when mongoose made a decent bike) Chromoly frame and beaten hard. If anybody is in the NOVA region and hasn't done the Quantico trails, they need to let me know.

Cheers!

Dan

Yes it is a custom built frame. It rides great with a 7" travel fork. It's a downhill bike, not much good for touring. LOL

Never knew we had this forum. Hmm. Wow. Guess that's what happens when I venture out of chat.

Just getting back into mtb after being out for a LONG time.

Intense uzzi. XT. My cranks are old, but man do they hold up.

This is art!

Is that Super Record too?

That thing is sexy and worth more than most Cruisers on here.

Bike Envy is creeping in!

Thanks. It's my new race rig. I had a Team Edition SystemSix (Peak Fitness Racing) but sold it back to a member of my old team (see post 176 and 177 on pg 6). I raced my Moots for most of the summer and got this on blowout from C'Dale.

It's not Super Record...I'm not sold on the 11-speed thing, but it is the limited edition Record Pro Red from 2008, sounds fancy but it's basically just a stiffer spring in the shifters.

Here’s me on the Moots trying to hold off the field at the Spring Series Final in Ohio. I lasted four laps before they caught me. Nothing like a suicide attack! This one hurt!

I love that bike! That would probably cut some serious minutes off of my track times.

Mine: blue Transition Dirtbag with Sherman Breakout Plus
Brother's: black Santa Cruz VP-Free with Boxxer World Cup

We spent some time at Whistler this summer. WW!! Super fun place to ride if you like DH/freeride stuff. I had always heard about "A-Line" and how awesome it was. They were right! It was like this over and over as fast as you dare to go!

No pics of just the bikes, we were too busy riding them!

2010 Cannondale Bad Boy

Just picked it up this week. Will give a report later. Hydraulic disks, left side fork. Good geometry for my riding position.
