Mansfield Canyon 1/25/14

Short notice, but if anyone is interested a few CSC members are considering wheeling Mansfield Canyon this up coming Saturday. I have never been but Nordost has and can chime in on trail difficultly ect. We can meet up at the Roadrunner Market 16121 S Houghton Road, Vail AZ @ 0730. There are two parts to the trail upper and lower I am open to run both.

I have been to the end of Temporal Gulch in my 2wd Tundra..never been on the side roads that spur off of it (to Mansfield).

Temporal Gulch is cool....dog approved

I would think if you can make it through the gap with no problems you should be able to make it through this trail. It may be slightly more rough but if we just take our time and spot we should be good. It has been 2 yrs since I've been on this trail and you know how things can change in that amount of time. Also I've seen that this trail has been proposed for closure and would really like to ride it again before it does. Oh and on the lower and upper parts of the trail, I think doing both is fine but if we do the lower part and people don't want to do the upper there is an exit half way through.

This picture is from the link you posted bowtiestang. It shows Mansfield canyon although it isn't marked. The blue line will be the road in and out and the blue line that hangs down in the middle is the exit between upper and lower Mansfield canyon. If that makes sense.

Yes you turn right at Patagonia high school.

Are the folks meeting in Vail @ 7:30 going to come down I-10 to 83 or take Houghton to Sahuarita Rd over to 83? I will meet up south based on the route you are taking. Terry

What CB channel will you be using? I will be on 146.46 on the 2meter.

I think only rockjock and I were meeting in vail so if he's not going to make it we can change the meet place to the 83/82 junction. I believe there is a gas station there on the S/E corner?

I am coming from Sahuarita so I can be at Houghton and Sahuarita or Sahuarita and 83 then we can meet up with Jim down south. Your call and what time? Also, what freq on CB and/or 2M?
