Question Four Peaks Pickup, AZ. Feb 9th 2008

Hellooooo everyone!

I wanted to respectfully invite the cruiser family to a clean-up of the Four Peaks RD and Beeline Highway area.
I went up and over Four Peaks last Sunday and was amazed by how bad the trash had gotten. I've decided to try and clean as much of it up as possible.

There is more info on Four Peaks Pickup

Seeing the burnt out FJ and trash struck a nerve with me.

Where: Beeline Highway and Four Peaks Rd. (AKA NF-143)

Just North East of Phoenix, AZ

Directions from Phoenix: Take the 101 to Shea and turn East. Take this to the Beeline(AKA Highway-87). Turn North on the Beeline (87). Take this 15 miles. The turn is just before mile marker 204. Turn Right on Four Peaks Rd (NF-143) (east). Take the dirt road less than a mile to the restrooms and parking area.

When: February 9th. 9am-3pm. (Come by to fill 1 bag or 20 whatever you have time for. Feel free to show up anytime between 9am-3pm and leave when you need to.)

What to bring: A desire to leave it a little better than you found it. Trash bags will be provided!

Recommended Items: Gloves, long pants, sun block, a hat, water, snacks.

For more info please contact: Tim Huber/SOAZ

Or

http://fourpeakspickup.blogspot.com/

Thanks to: Racer Offroad (RACER Offroad – Off Road Vehicles, Trucks, Cars, Parts, Fabrication, Phoenix, AZ) for $150 worth of gift certificates that will be given away!!!

Thank you for any support. I appreciate it.
Tim/SOAZ

Wow - looks like there is still a perfectly good pair of sliders on that FJ! Lotta wasted ammo, too. I'll try and make the 9th. I was planning on doing the up and over 4 Peaks last weekend but did not due to the heavy cloud cover seen from Phx.

It was very cloudy up there. Kinda spooky! I have the rest of my pics from that trip up at SoazTim
If you can make it we'd love to see you there.

Anyone write down the VIN on that FJ? A few months back I came across a Toyota Echo over there; I called the Police with the VIN and it turned out to be stolen so I made a report.

Funny... I was just going to post this up. Thanks TIM!

I expect that we will have a good CSC turnout for this cleanup. I was just out there on Saturday and was going to post my pics of the FJC and otther CRAP that needs attention and offer up our next cleanup. Glad to see I'm not the only one thinking about this area.

I didn't see a VIN although I made sure the Forest service knew where to look for it. That is a good call. I forgot.
Thanks for the support and the call BMAN! I'm a Toyota guy so I want to see a good represention of Toyota 4X4's! Talk to you soon!

Howdy! Yup, I'm in. I still have garbage bags left from last time. I can bring my Blue Knife if someone really wants those sliders, or if there is anything that needs to be reduced in size for transport. John

Don, Johnnie and John: Thank you guys I hope you can all make it!
The more the better. This place can use it. There is no shortage of trash. If the Sheriff checks out the FJ to see if it was used in a crime or stolen and finds it was not we can remove it. Otherwise they'll take care of it for us.

Looks iffy, but I may be able to make it. If I do, being so close to Rosevelt, I might have to do the trash & bass thing

OK fellas, I discussed it with Tim and we (CSC) will be partnering up with him and a few other groups on this to try to get a HUGE turnout. While Tim will remain the point man on this cleanup we're going to step up as if this were our own event and push for MAJOR participation from club members. I have agreed to supply Tim with some raffle tickets and will be trying to get some raffle prizes together from some of the local and Mud vendors.

Again, Tim will be the point of contact on this one so if you've got any information he may need ragarding vendors who'd like to help out in any way, or anything else, please PM or email him directly to get him the info.

Hey Tim, what is the trail like? The GF and I may come up for the clean up, then find somewhere to camp......not sure if we will bring the Wrangler or Patriot though (hence the question about the trail...). Looks like the BMW stays home for this one....

Unless it rains the patriot would be fine.
PM me about camping out there. I will be the night before for sure. Maybe a bunch of us will want to camp out there the night after.

The trail to the parking lot is basically 'paved' dirt. I've personally driven a BMW up it.

The BMW is staying home because the GF doesn't have any riding gear, and the 650 is a bit under powered for 2 up + camping gear, given the amount of asphalt between Tucson and Phoenix. The GF does have a Patriot that needs a proper break in though.....

Yes. With so many SUV's we could definately use it to move bags to the main area. Don't feel obligated to bring it, but if you can great!

Good stuff! I'm scouting it out this weekend. I'll let you know what I find.

That would be one really cold ride too!
