... Funny story there... the short answer is "no".

After having sold my wife's mommy wagon for the parts carrier/tow rig for THAT thing ^ she eventually rejected being forced to drive the kids around in a full sized Tundra while I drove my cool FJC. I caved and sold it for another mommy wagon. She drives a Highlander now, and I've got the Tundra... and I'm tinkering as fast as I can.

The even funnier epilogue is that a month or two after I traded it in, a guy joined the AZFJ board after he ended up buying my old rig at a Chevy dealership. Now the rig is back wheeling with my friends... without me.

Read this thread on the FJC board to see me spill my guts about being a jerk to my wife:

With Heavy Heart - Toyota FJ Cruiser Forum

Read this thread on the AZFJ board to see my surprise when the rig rejoins the group with a new owner:

AZFJ Forums Arizona FJ Discussion General Discussion Newbie with questions, looking forward to meeting everyone!

It actually all works out pretty cool. I really like the guy who bought her. He's going to be fun to have around.

That's a great story. I like the part about the dealer assuring the new owner that it had never been off-road.

Hey guys,

Ali here from ABQ, NM and I'm very proud to say that I've converted yet another former LR owner to a LC 80 series owner Some of you may recall few years back during a Sonic meet N greet, I brought with me Dave and his son from Gilbert. I think that may have been about four or five years ago. Ever since that I've been slowly working him and FINALLY he picked up a very nice unit from Ebay (Mesa) this week. Hopefully he'll chime in here and introduce himself.

Off to find me another one.....

New owner - Converted by Ali

Yes, I am a proud new owner of a '97 Collectors edition. I have been lusting after LCs for the past 7 or so years. Have taken a similar route as Ali, owning several Land Rovers (Range Rover, Discovery, Series II 109, Series II 88) for about 14 or so years. What can I say, some people are slow learners!

Not to sound too religious, but this whole sale of my ’98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 and purchase of the LC 1 week later was undoubtedly due to a good deal of prayer and humility, being willing to seek advice and follow it, selling the Jeep without having a replacement!

Anyway, the new LC is naturally, AWESOME! Diff locks, Custom front bumper with Warn XD9000i winch, Kaymar rear bumper and tire carrier, 3” OME lift with 2” spacers, Slee sliders, Reinforced rear trailing arms, Adjustable F/R panhard rods, Slee front control arms that correct for the lift, Double cardon front drive shaft, Adjustable rear upper control arm links, Repositioned sway bar mounts front and rear, Toyota OEM 4.56 ring and pinion gears to compensate for BFG 315/75R16 tires, Toyota center diff-lock switch, Toyota manual throttle control switch, Painless headlight wiring harness to brighten headlights, Toyota dashboard cupholder, Kenwood stereo and Boston speakers, Dynamat under floor, Drivers seat rebuilt, well maintained.

I haven’t taken any pics yet, but will post when I do. Here's one from the seller:

Welcome to both! I just love the 97 Collectors editions. Sounds you spent the time and got a really nice set up rig.

Gotta post pictures up (multiples please) of your new rig. Congratulations!

Welcome and congrats on your "new" 80!

The 3rd Friday CSC meets are a good place to check out some other rigs and meet some good people.

Howdy! Welcome aboard. Now you just need to get a 40, 45, 55, and 60 series, and you'll have a full set. John

New Iron Pig Registered

I thought that I introduced myself already, but I don't see my post or pictures. I am a new 55 owner and looking to maximize the awesomeness of it. The rig is at a suspension shop getting some deaver leafs and some new shocks put on, so I should have it back by the end of the month. Already met up with John B, looking forward to meeting everyone in the CSC.

I just got back to Arizona after being in the Military as a USAF TACP Jtac. I'm looking forward to finishing out my school at ASU and hitting the trails with all you guys. I'm a huge newbie so I'll be asking for help from everyone I'm sure. I'll attach a pic of the Pig so you know what I'm working with and a couple pics of Iraq & Afghanistan to show what's kept me out of the beautiful state of AZ for six years.

71' FJ55 "The beast"- Wife named it
CBB 454, Dana 60 front and back, 4.11 geared
Edelbrock Intake with a mild Cam
Deaver front leafs( currently being built), Rancho9000 shocks
Air Ride seats
38" TSLs
& Enough sound to think you're at a concert.

Near Future Mods-(1) All in one- Remote start, motors for keyless entry, 2 way Viper alarm. - Have to protect the awesomeness (2)Upgrade to 40" TSL's, (3) Install Vintage Air A/C system and fix heater.

Thank you for your service and glad you came home safe - looking forward to meeting you and your yellow "beast".

I can probably make the Sonic gathering but I won't have the Rig back yet. But grabbing a burger and meeting everyone sounds good to me.

Is the rear on that 55 linked or leaf spring? I'm not sure what I'm seeing there.

Leafs all the way. Soon to be Deaver leafs in the front instead of old Stock, I think it was $750 to get the front ones made.

Introducing ourselves -- Eric & Cheryl Eberhard

We are in Camp Verde. We also spend a lot of time in our cabin near Parks. We have three trucks that qualify us for this group. We have a 1980 truck we bought new (we are the only owner of an historic car, makes us feel old). It has 3 inch lift, 33" tires, detroit locker in the rear, posi in front, traction bars, bored to 22r specs with Weber carb, Offenhauser manifold, off-road grind cam, and headers. We have a 1981 BJ42 with 5 speed, power steering, and disc brakes that we just imported from Canada. We have added an AXT turbo, ARB front/rear, A/C, ARB Bull Bar and Warn winch. We are in the process of lots of "clean ups", adding carpet, then an Old Man Emu suspension and 33 inch tires. We have a 2003 Land Cruiser we bought new and other than Toyo Open Country M/T tires, is stock. It is our reliable long distance Cruiser -- it is unbelievable at highway speeds in snow/ice, etc. We no longer do "hard core" wheeling -- defined as you can't do it without body damage or using the winch constantly. We did that a lot when we were young ... not so crazy any more. We still go out on medium challenging drives, mostly to enjoy the outdoors. I am not sure how active we will be in the club, but it looks like it could be fun. Eric & Cheryl

Howdy All-

Hi everybody- I'm another newbie from Prescott. For those of you around town, I'm the white one with the massive Thule bike rack mounted on the back.... and the Busted Knuckle Garage license plate on the front.

I'm just on here looking for some advice about things that I can do to my Crusher, as well as local help with anything that I can't do myself...

A little background. I drive a stock '91 Land Cruiser, but I'm looking at making some changes. I don't want to buy a new car, as the one i have is still doing good on all fronts.

My main concern is power and gas mileage. I know that the stock engine works, but what do you guys know about swaping engines, to a V8? Is there local support in Prescott, or would I have to go to Phoenix? Unfortunately I won't be able to work on my truck until July, so everything is Hypothetical until then.... I'm looking foreward to coming to a meeting sometime....

Hi everyone. I just traded up from a 4Runner into an 80. I've had my 1992 FJ80 for just over a week and really love it. It was taken care of and the PO spent the past two years base lining it. The front axle was serviced in March with a new passenger birf. I'm getting clicking in the driver's side, so I'll have to get in there myself to inspect and most likely replace.

It has a new radiator, alternator, battery and a/c system. The PO to the PO put on 33x12.5 ProComp mud terrain tires without a lift. Too big for the wheel wells and they started to tear out the flares. Those are now off the truck and a set of 285 Nitto TG's are now in there and fit much nicer. In addition to addressing the clicking, I need to replace the brake booster, front brake pads, a rear wheel stud and the shocks are no good. I will address the shocks with a 2.5" lift from Slee. The 3FE responded pretty good to getting the wide mud tires off. It seems to have almost as much ooomph as my 3.4L with 4.56 gears pushing 315 tires on my old Runner. So I'm already used to needing some patience when driving. If you're thinking this truck sounds familiar, you are correct. I bought it from Fiveo.

The whole family (all 6 of us) can now fit in my truck and we can get back out to exploring old mines, ghost towns, geocaching and off-roading.

Couple pics:

Day it came home
