Howdy! Nice rig!! So where are you located? What transmission does it have? Are you going to keep it pretty stock looking? It's pretty tidy looking right now. John

So As I read the 1st post I'm thinking NoLimit is the totally cool dad that's about to give this rig to his son.
Even cooler is that NoLimit is a 15 yo kid smart enough to find IH8MUD and start postin away.
First thing you should do kid is sell me that rig and go buy a Civic...

I think you should go hot pink with purple accents!
Pink not for you? How about urban camo or olive drab.
Hey I'm on the east side of Tucson if you need help or a garage to work at. I don't know much about 40's but I enjoy wrenching.

Thanks for the offer MaddBaggins :P
I used to go to school at Booth-Fickett on the east side but I live on the west (Silverbell and Grant area)
My dad owns a welding shop and a pretty big garage here for me to work on it. (pictures here - http://forum.ih8mud.com/chit-chat-section/99676-show-off-your-garage-workshop.html)
I'm kinda of iffy about the blue but it might frow on me.
Anyone recomendations on where I should get it painted at?
Thanks
~Tyler

I am with BMAN on this one - waaaayyyyy tooo nice a rig
I wouldn't paint it anything different than what it is; paint looks better than mine, for that matter, just shine it some
this is indeed a candidate for a purist restore
but then, as a 15-yr. old, there is a high likelihood you could crash it

Your project look like a good one. When the kids are gone I'll snag an FJ too! Jealous!
My good friend Dan Hade's sweet restored FJ. The thing is hot. Use this as inspriation. Can't wait to see yours when complete!

The JT Outfitters disc brake conversions are the easiest and most economical. They have both front and rear kits that can be bolted on and the knuckles do not need to be taken apart. It is sure a lot easier than breaking down the knuckes or replacing axles. I did a four wheel conversion on my rig and they work great stopping big 33" wheels. You will also need to install a proportioning valve on the rear brake line to ensure back brakes never lock up. Also if you only have a one resivoir master cylinder, you will need to replace with a 2 resivoir master cylinder to accomadate the proportioning valve.
PM me if you decide to do this and need some help.

Last night installed new spark plugs, distributor, and wires.
Today I also ordered a new front end with disk brakes and the brake booster and master and proportioning valve. I must say I am excited
