Decent shop for 2F rebuild in Tucson
What's up everybody. I'm currently dealing with some serious issues with the motor in my 87 FJ60. I'm starting to look into rebuilding the motor and need to find a reputable shop in the Tucson area. I'm new to the area and could use a push in the right direction. Thanks!

Check out Calypso Automotive 326-5358
They are friends of mine and do good work. They don't specialize in any brand, but anything I don't do myself I have them do.

I've had good results with MachineWorks on Stone

Don at Machineworks is currently working on my 2F out of my 83 FJ60. He was recommended to me by Bill Lee, formerly of Bill's Toy Shop. Bill was a Land Cruiser specialist here in Tucson but has now moved to Silver City, NM.
I haven't gotten anything back from Machineworks yet, so I don't have any opinion yet on the quality of the rebuild. I can tell you that he is extremely busy, which is probably a good sign, and that it will probably take a couple of months for him to get around to working on a new rebuild. HTH.

Don at Machineworks is who Bill used to do most if not all of his rebuilds that required a machineshop. I've had both of the 78 heads I own rebuilt there and they did a wonderful job. I've also used them to fix aluminum manifolds issues.

Decent shop for 2F rebuild in Tucson
Bill Lee has moved to Silver City and has opened his shop there. A number of folks in Tucson are making the drive to have him work on their vehicles there.
