KZJ73 / R151F / ????? Year 1994

Hi,

I search a low gear tcase kit for a toyota KZJ73.
High speed are OK, but low speed are too high.
But I don't know the type of my tcase ?

Do I have all pieces nedded ? For 449$ ? And for a KZJ73 ?

MFK1194 at 1575$ OR MFK1190RBK at 375$ ???
Because OK for 375$ but 1575$, it's very too expansive for me.

Dave, You think he has a split case mated to a r151f?

I would think it'd be a mini truck style case....

I don't know exactly what was mated to a r151f especially overseas. but it looks like in the states it came with RF1A gear driven transfer case equipped with a 23 spline output shaft. I would think the gear set he linked to marlin would work, specifying 23 spline.. if that's the case.

Arnaud I think you need to figure out what xfer you have...

Arnaud,

the RBK kit is only a rebuild kit which you need to install the gear set. You need the gear set itself. Keep in mind, these prices are in AU$, not US$. Are you in Europe?

As long as it is in a J7x cruiser, it should be a split case. He's got an offset rear diff too. I'll post a pic of an R151 mated to a split case tonight when I get home. The only R151 we get in the US is in the Toy Turbo truck but they get all kinds of stuff outside.

That's what I was wondering on a prado. I didn't know if it had a centered rear or not. r151 to split case and off set axle. thanks for clearing that up. So LJ7x's come with a split case and offset rear?

Yes. I know they still do at least until the J90 series. The J90 has a centered rear output and a left side drop like the Tacoma. The J120 series, I'm not sure. Somebody check at the Lexus dealership.

Per the Review in the Toyota Land Cruiser magazine... the LC120 V6 VXE has a centered rear... I'm assuming that's the same as the lexus?

Yes. I'm guessing the GX470 is a UZJ125 as it is a LWB 4 door.

What is interesting is that how the light duty line that eventually became the Prado is still in the J series. I guess it is because the team for the light duty series still wants it to retain the Land Cruiser image. We've seen how other Toyota lines diverge (e.g Celica and Supra, Camry and Solara) and one of the branches end up being called something else other than the parent line.

??? I have a 1KZT engine, and a R151F speed box.
I don't know my tcase model.

Yes, after a lot of research, I think I have a RF1A.
The VF1A is with a chaine, so It's a RF1A.
This Tcase is almost the same that the BJ42 and HJ60/61.

This is a cruiser transfer case mated to an R151:

This is a Hilux gear driven case mated to an R151f:

The easisest diffeence to see is the location of the rear output, offset vs. centered.

what's your diff. ratio ?
Just give a try at your LJ70 4.88s and see if you like them

His KZJ73 should either have the 4.30 or the 4.56 diffs

Just my low ratio, no my high ratio !

The whole for a maximum of 500$, if it's possible.

The KZ has a 10*43 ratio on bridges (bridges ?? I think it's the same word in English !!)

==> It's not possible. You're looking at €1400+ for marks gears counting transport, duties and taxes. You may be able to find a set of factory gears from a different model truck which would be numerically hhigher, but the question is : would they fit ?
