Biodiesel in 1HZ-T

Hey everyone!
Well the 1Hz-T made it in yesterday. Thank God! Man she looks really good. Thanks again to the guys at G&S. They made things very easy, UPS on the other hand. They sucked.
Any way, I have a question. I know I need a new fuel line, but is there any rubber any where else in the fuel system that I have to worry about? Fuel pump, injectors or the like? Where can I find the synthetic fuel lines. I think it is called Vitrol?
Thanks guys!

Viton is the name of the fuel line material. Here's Zander's BioD page:

I have been running B20 in my 1HZ all fall with no issues what so ever (even using cheap Napa fuel lines). B20 is pretty mild however. for B100, Viton lines are recommended. Just keep an eye on them. I think McMaster Carr sells viton line by the foot as well.

Thanks for the info. Are there any rubber parts in the injectors or anything else?

Fuel line issues overrated. I am the same as VTcruiser, with a variety of B20 to B100 regularly used and no issues at all in well over a year now... FWIW... Viton is super expensive, I hear Gates makes a cheaper versnio but havn;t looked into this myself.. What I would do is bend and use as much metal as possible (after building a complete rubber setup this last goaround..). Then small pieces of rubber here and there as needed...

Hey Robb,
Are you talking about a SVO or straight veggie oil set up? That is even more plumbing than I want to deal with, though it is pretty cool. Just filltered fryer oil and a little diesel tank.

What did you do for the fuel tank on the 1HZ swap you did? I have a new 40 tank that I never installed. It has a vent pipe next to the filler neck. Could I drill and tap a new pipe next to the vent pipe for the return line? I hate to have to buy a new tank when I have one sitting in storage.

Thanks

On the 45 we reused the tank.

Yes I am speaking of the strait veggie oil setup, yes it is a ton of plumbing.

Rob

My fantasy is to use one of the many aftermarket 40 series long range tanks as the SVO tank, put a heater in it, have a valve on the fuel line etc. One of the benefits of the decades of the 40 series aftermarket...

I think that I'll end up running B20 in my HZJ60 when I get her back. I like the lubricating properties of the bio without the power loss of going B100.
