Fuel prices here in NorCal shot up immediately when Katrina hit--no lag time for the "more expensive fuel to get here." I know it's a global market thing, but these f-ers look for any excuse to jack up fuel prices. We've all seen the video of the looting in New Orleans but I've heard people are getting looted at the pump by price gouging.
You're right Daryl--now even the commercially produced biodiesel here is cheaper than the petrol. I wonder if the oil companies know there are tons of people ready to convert. Long term I am going to get one of the standard 40 series auxiliary tanks, put a heater in it, run the main tank on bioD or combo for starting, then WVO from the aux tank as the main fuel. Chevron etc.Diesel here is now $3.50 per gallon. B __________________ Brendan 1983 BJ42 bioD, lots o' Aqualu, TIC Parabolics/DT8000s, Tuffy, 33x9.5 BFG ATs, SOLD

Hi Gang,
This is important. Many have worried that if running SVO or biodiesel, if caught you could get nailed for taxes. This is the British Columbia gov't web site on tax rates: http://www.qp.gov.bc.ca/statreg/reg/...tm#section51.2 Basically, it says that if an "alternative" fuel market share is less than 3.5%, then the fuel is tax exempt. We are talking provincial taxes here. TAX RATES FOR ALTERNATIVE MOTOR FUELS Market Share Tax Rates (cents per litre) Categories 1 and 2 Category 3 Less than 3.5% exempt exempt 3.5% to less than 6.5% 3.6 2.2 6.5% to less than 10% 7.3 5.1 Statistics Canada issues the market share info. This was my plan even before the hurcane. But now I am REALLY going to have to get off my lazy but and get the cruisers converted.

Hey Ivanhoe, good to see you here--hope to see you more. Lots of knowledgeable people here but we could always use one more.
Love the BJ42. She's in great shape--plan on having her for a long time to come and am treating her accordingly. Not beating her like the old FJ60 Wow--your anti-governmentism rivals even the best USers. I thought we had cornered the market on that!
