Making the switch

I would like to start running bio in my 1HZ powered truck. From the reading I have been doing, it appears that all that is needed to make the change from regular diesel to bio is filling the tank with bio.

Is this accurate?

I know that the bio can corrode rubber fuel lines, but is there anything else I need to think about? Do I need to drain the tank before filling up with bio, or can I just fill it? Can you just switch back and forth between diesel and bio if say you needed to fill up and did not have access to bio? Or, is it ok to switch between the different types of bio.

Sorry for all the ???s, but I want to make sure I know what I am doing before I make this change.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can mix BD and petro-diesel in any ratio you want.

The BD is very corrosive to rubber fuel lines and seals. Somewhere in the early 90's auto manufacturers stopped using rubber and went to vinyls, which are not affected by BD. Look at your fuel lines and you could probably tell.

BD will also clean your entire fuel sysytem. Travel with a spare fuel filter in case it gets clogged and replace the filter after a 1000 or so kms on BD. Keep a close eye on the filter for several 1000 kms.

Thanks, Kevin.

I did read about how the bio will clean the system out and that the fuel filter will have to be replaced shortly after changing over. Seems like an added bonus to me!

Thanks again.
