Lightbulb Electric?Maybe a dumb question...

Has anyone ever looked into electric for a Landcruiser,
I know she's heavy but what a dream! Lots of room
for batteries, boy I would love that!

Bitter, of course not. Simply intelligent enough to recognize an insanely stupid idea when I see one.

That site fails at description. Top speed of 60mph, range of 50mi? No thanks.

The 1st gen electric mazda is pretty cool, but making a 1st gen mazda into a 1/4mi car is a waste of good handling characteristics. I suppose those went out the window with all the battery weight though.

Diesel/hybrid LC would make more sense than an electric only. Cost/complexity probably not worth it over a standard well maintained diesel though.

Exactly.... High MPG, clean burning, diesels are available without all the hybrid reliability/complexity problems. A truck with a useful load capacity of 50lbs is ridiculous when nearly all the load capacity is carrying batteries.

Not stupid at all, but your observation regarding the LC's uh, girth is a sign you intuit the shortcomings of electric conversions: compromise.

Small, lightweight vehicles make better conversion platforms, and they still can't compete with the performance of a ground up design.

Could your LC become a hybrid?
