I don't think anyone recommends driving on SVO with no modication. The oil never gets hot enough to combust properly and can lead to ring coking and valve damage. Some people use a 1-tank system on a MBZ, but they still use heat to thin the oil. An even then they only recommend it in warm places (ie. Southern States).

I have a 85 MBZ and a 2H and I find the MBZ works WAYYYY better on vegoil. Easier starting, quicker switchover, fewer problems with air in lines etc. etc. The lack of a return line on the Toyota fuel steup will inevitably cause problems if you don't have a 2-tank system. I wouldn't recommend it.

definitely been there

Hi Kris,
I've had your same issues and here's what happend to me. First off the stock 3b hard lines are about 5/16 and not 3/8 so if you try to use 3/8 line you may not be able to clamp properly and you'll suck just a teeny bit of air. This is insidious as it takes a while to accumulate enough air to make your truck run rough, stall etc. Then you'll bleed everything and then it'll seem fine for a bit and then repeat. Very annoying and sometimes difficult to narrow down. Obviously the solution is use 5/16 line at least when joining the stock hard lines to your valve etc. I used 3/8 everywhere else.
The other part of your problem sounds like a restriction b/c poor performance happens when you step on it and require higher fuel flow. This also happend to me when an aux fuel pump I had installed by the svo tank plugged as it didn't have a pre FP filter (bad idea). Eventually the pump cloggged with SVO/tank crud and caused a restriction. I've since removed the pump altogether and rely on the lift pump like everyone else. What I thought was going to help my set up turned into the problem. Restriction can happen for other reasons as well and it sounds like the way you go through dirty filters that a clogged filter could cause your restriction as well. Maybe work on cleaning your svo better. I let my wvo sit for a couple months then filter it in stages down to 1 micron in my garage. Also, SVO filters better on your truck when it's hot. So you might add some heat just before your filter set up. Filtering svo that's too cold will clog your filter.
good luck
best
